Crossover lover, writer, artist. Written and drawn by a disgruntled Ph.D with a nerdy family. My neighbor is REDNECK DOUG. Defender of hairlines and wrinkles. AO3 Name: Mightymeatmuffin/TikTok name: morgan_beverly_books. https://ko-fi.com/mightymeatmuffin
I'm a busy program director and writer, with a Ph.D in science education. When I'm not writing passive aggressive emails and reviewing terrible papers, working, I like to write and draw.

'Far Past the Ring' is my epic crossover of the world of The Expanse and Star Wars' The Bad Batch.
As of November 5th, 2023, the main story is complete. Side stories will be popping up, ranging from explicit smut pieces to simple conversations between characters. Some take place in the Star Wars universe, some in The Expanse, and some, well, in between.
Watch for them :)

As a science writer, I really wanted to explore the meeting of the two universes that seemed to respond to physics and biology in wildly different ways.
Additionally, I love The Expanse. Like, inhumanly so. And if you like Star Wars, I hope that this inspires you to watch this amazing show.
Finally, I also wanted to write a neurodivergent love story between an ASD individual and a neurotypical individual. I hope that I have done it justice.
'To Guard Against Titans' is the sequel to 'Far Past the Ring'.

My neighbor is an irreverent Boomer from Lafayette, LA, with all sorts of ideas and thoughts regarding a galaxy far, far away. I've taken to texting him regarding animated Star Wars shows and man, his Southern sass is magical. Enjoy!

What can I say? I love tall strong wavy haired misunderstood freaks and the redheads that get them to chill out with extra snuggles and kisses.
So that might be my actual marriage, I am the wavy haired freak and my husband's a ginger I DO NOT CARE.
Join me on this rarest of rarepairs, Nur and Rogue, as they fall for each other by the fire during Season 2 of Xmen 97 (Night and Stars and the Desert), and the AU where Nur doesn't become Apocalypse...and Rogue stays behind in Egypt with him.
blue sunset on Mars is a real phenomenon caused by the way Martian dust scatters sunlight.
Unlike Earth, where sunsets are red and orange due to the scattering of shorter blue wavelengths by our atmosphere, Mars has an extremely fine dust that scatters blue light more efficiently near the Sun.
So during sunset on Mars, the sky turns reddish-brown while the area around the Sun glows a soft blue. It’s the opposite of what we experience on Earth.
“I like how they draw from your forehead to your mouth. It’s like your body reminding everyone that you’ll speak your thoughts, not hide them away. You said I’m fearless, but darlin’, you’re something else.”

Just a quick sketch of Nur and Rogue from the fic :)
Apocalypse took a lover (Chandra / X-ternal), the same being that brokered deals for and accepted tithes from the Thieves Guild in which Gambit was raised in.
This is why, I think, Gambit chooses the Thieves Guild to wield while possessed. It is a group familiar to him, and if Apocalypse did not know where she was before, with Remy's memories he does now.
We hear from Apocalypse (through Gambit) that she "betrayed" him, took his power, and fled. This may be true, a lie, or a partial truth. Apocalypse is an unreliable character.
Here though, it is key, he does not keep the power Apocalypse gave up. He makes Apocalypse's "mistake" again and gives it to Rogue. I think in killing Chandra and giving Apocalypse what he wanted, Gambit is then given what he wants, a way to be with Rogue forever.
He is very clearly not allowing Apocalypse control after Chandra is dead. He is fighting with everything he has for their happy ending again.
It is STATED IN THE SHOW BY CHARLES that Gambit HAS CONTROL OVER HIMSELF but is SLOWLY LOSING HIMSELF TO APOCALYPSE.
If you want a timestamp it's at: 28:15
"Apocalypse will not stay contained inside Remy's consciousness much longer".
Apocalypse did not "marry" Rogue.
Gambit also says earlier in the episode that he is no longer holding his cards so close to his chest anymore. He cannot fight his own desires and Apocalypse at the same time.
I think him pushing the token of Apocalypse's power into Rogue was him slowly losing control of himself, yes, because this entire time he is being driven by his love and desire for Rogue.
Anyways, yeah. I'm sick of seeing "Apocalypse married Rogue". That never happened. Gambit was possessed, yes. But fueled by his single most desire.
If you think Gambit would EVER let another man marry Rogue through his body you don't know Gambit at all.
The fourth episode of X-Men 97 season 2 made me want to kill myself
Magnus and Apocalypse being direct parallels of each other, twisted into different ways bearing the pain of mutant kind and causing the pain just the same. Nur being born a slave since birth, shackled by those who are afraid of who he could become from his power. Magnus being a holocaust victim, numbers burnt into his skin reminding him of who he will always fight against. Magnus finding hope through Charles, even as much as he disagreed with his teachings being blinded by rage against those who hurt his people.
Magnus learning from Charles, using his teachings in his own manner as he mentored Nur when no one else wanted to--shaping Nur into the path of mutant-kind and shaping him into the man he has become. Nur being tied between two sides, Baal being his Magento and Magneto being his Charles Xavier. Nur being betrayed by those he thought as his own people, being lied to about being their destiny--only seeing the fact they were trying to stop him and not redeem him from his cursed future.
Magnus failed being Nur's Charles Xavier, and died halting his genocide of the city doing so--because he failed Genosha. He failed the future, and he must not fail the people of the past. Nur was failed by his past, and seeked to do nothing but create a future where he would not be lied to--where he would not be loved, where he would only be feared like he did with the Pharaoh Ram-tut and his snakes in shining armour.
Nur became who he hated the most to preserve the only vulnerability he had in his life, his limited beating of his heart--while Magnus's heart stopped failing his duty as Nur's teacher, trying to become his best friend who he fought and loved despite the pain.
Ugly, wretched memories of being sold as a slave, yanked up onto an auction block before dozens of strangers, all of whom looked at him with a mixture of boredom and disgust....
....These memories made Nur hesitate before even approaching others.

Well folks. En Sabah Rogue is still stuck in my head.
Moreover, a few people have said that they were sad to see Night and Stars and The Desert end. I guess I'm good at writing romance ;)
So, I figured to keep the story going!
Canon divergence here - what if, in the spirit of Hades and Persephone, Rogue stays behind in ancient Egypt with En Sabah Nur?
What if Nur ignored the call of the Celestials? What if he went back to trying to free Egypt, and find other mutants like himself and Rogue?
And then you're like "fuck it, I'll make my own" and once you've done that you toss it into the goodwill bin to be someone else's prada or container of human teeth
