Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Archer teased a little too much and it backfired on him.
Coby was just desperately trying to catch him. :,)
And I bet Archer's plotting how to make it happen again.

Don't think that I forgot about Mermay~
Last year I turned Elmer into a mer. So this time I'm making an AU with Coby and Archer. He's not my usual mer that's based on fishes and whales. Nawh this one's based on sea worm and lobster. A wobster if you will.
A little introduction of the AU under the cut.
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Coby's always blushing a little (around Archer).
Archer just wants to tease him. ;p
He's releasing fog, not steam btw. Feeling a little shy and flustered~
AU!Archer often ends up summoning AU!Coby to his dreams. In these dreams Coby opts for a more human avatar. He's not able to keep it human sized for long however and often end up on the larger side. But Archer doesn't mind. ;)
Yes they do end up romantic in this AU too. I have an excuse to draw minigiant smooches too.
Coby's more confident while in these dreamscapes since he can't physically harm Archer.
But Coby's real form is always in the peripherals of Archer's mind. A strong presence that he's always aware of but can't focus on because Coby doesn't want him to. :)
This was supposed to go with this post but then I changed my mind.
Run Archer! Run! Definitely don't look up!
Based on your answer for gorm meeting dark au keiki it seems like mer au Coby may get along with him?
I think they would yes, since Gorm and Archer are similar in personality. But it'd be a little shakey at first. xD
Coby's always struggled with physical touch/affection since he's shy and self-conscious, despite longing for it. In contrast, Gorm's VERY touchy as a person and being. Touch is how he bonds and explore/sense/experience the world around him. Plus he's quite uninhibited. xD
That initially may be way too handsy for Coby. The octomer does not keep his arms to himself unless given a reason to do so. Not to mention how endlessly curious/interested Gorm would be at all the fog appearing and the other weather phenomenons Coby causes. That ringing in his ears he could go without tho. ;p
But I do think it'd be good for Coby as he could get physical interaction outside of the dreamscape with Archer. (Archer tries in person too but Coby's a worrywart.) Without being scared of hurting the other person. He just needs a little time to get used to it. :3
I can imagine after Coby swims far enough away he opens his hand and immediately regrets kidnapping Archer *awkward staring contest between them* Would Coby immediately return Archer to the island after he realizes what he’s done? And how would they become friends in this au?
Oh yeah he's massively regretting everything and having an intense inner monologue berating himself. xD;
Archer isn't so lucky as to get a good view of Coby at first either! Because Coby will float by the surface, quickly depositing Archer on his lower half's back and retreat into the fog before Archer regains his bearings.
So for a while he's just having a conversation with a voice in the thick fog. He knows he's talking to the massive deity(?) but he's not quite grasping all of him due to the fog, and Coby keeps hiding in it. It takes a while before Archer even realizes that he's actually sitting on said deity(?) and not a rock!
He didn't take him back immediately, Archer had to reason a bit with him first (Coby was busy making up worst case scenarios and avoiding Archer because he didn't want to be in the situation at all. But he would've taken him back in the end anyways).
As for how they become friends, it's after Archer's return to the island that he starts having dreams of Coby. It's the real Coby summoned there by Archer's unconsciousness. Look the man's interest in this deity(?) is piqued! So they start talking from there. And then Archer eases him into meeting physically again. :)
Would mer Coby get along with dark au keiki then since he’d be less touchy than Gorm? 👀
Less touchy? Nah nah he'd be worse. If dark!au Keiki got his hands on mer!Coby he'd be flipping and prodding him like a toddler who just discovered worms exist. :,)
It wouldn't be with any malicious intent, he'd try to be gentle. But he's not interacted with anyone so he don't know how to do it properly. All vocalizations would be too loud and angry sounding. Even if he's only excited.
But I don't think Coby would let him get his hands on him in the first place. He'd join Gorm in that out of reach spot. Not sure he'd ever give the large mer a chance to prove him wrong, or right, about his assumptions either. He'd be pretty overwhelmed by him. xD;;
