DAISUKE: The Vanisher

(if he looks a little different from his first appearance, it's simply because of me adjusting the brightness and contrast !! I realize that drawing with reading mode on makes the colors look a little different from what I thought... haha...)

— Summary:

Daisuke is a completely normal, average office worker under ViSION Corp. There is absolutely nothing going on with him at all. He has no superpowers, no shady deals with villains. His only wish is to live peacefully with his mother.

Until he's fired from his accounting job for apparently 'not even being an accountant in the first place,' and 'fraudulent, shifty behaviour. I don't trust him at all!' and 'where in the world did Andrius find this guy?' Not to mention, 'He's barely done any work!'

All very interesting reasons. He does not care. Daisuke's most pressing problem is not having a job. Right until his old boss Andrius, CEO of ViSION Corp re hires him for a different position: babysitting.

— Personality:

His coworkers often describe him as having a horrible personality. Daisuke is very blunt, if a little rude to people he's unfamiliar with. This trait hardly carries over when he is familiar with someone. Daisuke's cheeky personality shines through, then. The two targets of his trolling are often Beau and Mary, his beloved coworkers. Cleo, the kid he is tasked with babysitting, is also subjected to his practical jokes, and slightly unhinged humour, though they are more likely to be found conspiring together.

Despite this, he is very family oriented. He loves his mother to bits, and only wants the best life for her. Daisuke also sees Cleo as a little sister, and genuinely tries to take care of her not just for the sake of the job.

Hobbies: Poetry, ragebaiting Beau, ragebaiting Andrius, annoying Mary.

Likes: His family, ragebaiting the people closest to him, music, listening to Cleo talk about random stories, listening to Beau talk about his work.

Dislikes: Working, cooking, mornings, Andrius, talking, useless things, Andrius.

— Background:

No one knows where he came from. His age is estimated to be around 20 years old. There are a few things that we do know about him, however.

1. He is either a biologically modified or fully artificial human. In a world full of supernatural powers and abilities, superheroes and supervillains, artificial humans are not exactly a novelty. There is an identifier on each one of them, a unique mark that is etched into their eyes by the energy that fuels the supernatural phenomena of the world.

We don't know for sure because he always keeps one eye covered. No matter what Beau or Cleo try to do, he always finds a way to keep it hidden.

2. He does not have any kind of superpower, ability, whatever you want to call it. Which is strange, since usually, artificial humans are created for the sole purpose of wielding these abilities that surpass the normal human limits, if that makes sense. If you put so many resources into creating artificial life, then why wouldn't you try to give them crazy insane powers? Well that's because [spoilers]

Sketching Daisuke :D I was gonna give him a superhero suit, but his whole schtick is being Just a Normal Guy™ despite... External circumstances. I settled for giving him a color swapped variation of the same outfit.

I'll eventually do a post dedicated to him and everything and why he's... uh... the way that he is. For now have this !!

(also like my lines are very ?? like ?? not-thick. and it's a little hard to see at times so I decided just... make it thicker. yeah. that makes sense.)

Daisuke’s story

I have no idea what Daisuke’s final class would end up being. I kinda like Kinshi Knight just because naginata and bow?

Their story begins like many others. A village under attack, their family members either wounded or dead. Daisuke was hiding in their house as Faceless attacked their family, hoping they would not be found. A Faceless approached where they were hidden and just before they reached that place, a mysterious samurai rushed in and swiftly struck the Faceless down. Young Daisuke looked up and saw through their tears a heroic sight. The village had been saved by a small part of the Hoshidan army! And the leader of that group? Prince Ryoma himself. Daisuke saw Ryoma standing before them, telling them they were safe.

Daisuke idolised Ryoma from that day onwards. They trained to be a samurai and hoped to join the Hoshidan army. They reached this goal soon enough, but were occasionally told by their peers that maybe they’d be better off as something other than a samurai... They weren’t the best with a sword. Daisuke didn’t listen to them though, because all they wanted was to one day meet Ryoma again. But one day, while watching some troops being trained, Daisuke saw Subaki teaching the new sky knights a few tricks. Daisuke watched Subaki in awe and was overwhelmed by how cool he was. They abandoned their sword and samurai ways, choosing to idolise Subaki instead of Ryoma now.

Daisuke wasn’t too bad with a naginata but it took some time for them to gain the trust of a pegasus. The dream of getting to meet Subaki one day was enough to keep them trying though! Their training was going smoothly until one day, they heard that Prince Ryoma was going to be coming by to discuss plans with some of the officers! Daisuke wasn’t sure what to think when imagining getting to see their previous hero again. They decided to try and catch a glimpse, even if they cared more about Subaki now. When Ryoma came past, Daisuke was hiding, so terrified at the thought of actually being noticed, and felt like a child again, hiding in their home to be rescued. Ryoma was followed from a distance by a ninja, Kagero, as Ryoma’s other ninja retainer was ahead of them both. The ninjas were almost imperceptible. Daisuke could have missed them like many others did. But when Daisuke did spot her, the way Kagero blended into the background and checked the surroundings carefully to keep Ryoma safe stood out to them. Once again, Daisuke was in awe.

Daisuke abandoned the naginata and devoted their time to becoming a ninja, dreaming of even being able to stand near Kagero. Becoming a ninja was not an easy task however, and Daisuke was not skilled at it. It wasn’t long before their teachers gave up on them and told them that they would never be a ninja. Daisuke was shattered. They knew they hadn’t been perfect at other things, but never before had they been told they were this bad. If Kagero ever met them, she would be horrified. Daisuke ran away and returned to training as a sky knight, but they had lost all their motivation for it. Not to mention all the conflicting feelings they were having now about Ryoma and Subaki and Kagero.

Daisuke heard suspicious talk one day between two soldiers who seemed to be questioning Hoshido entirely. They spoke about Mikoto and Ryoma and the things they said baffled Daisuke. The more Daisuke listened in, the more they believed. The more Daisuke heard, the more they doubted Ryoma’s worth of being called a hero. More than that... Daisuke doubted whether Hoshido was a worthy cause to fight for. Quickly shaking their head, Daisuke ignored that thought. That was treasonous! But... Ryoma certainly wasn’t what they had thought. And wouldn’t Kagero be aware of these things too? Was she not worthy of being called a hero as well? Daisuke returned to their sky knight training with a somber expression. They had little reason to try anymore. It all seemed worthless.

Daisuke wound up coming across a sight that nobody was ever supposed to see. Subaki being less than perfect, a rarity indeed, while setting up an area for practice that morning. In fact, he’d slipped and been overwhelmed by all the things he’d been carrying. And all that Subaki asked was that Daisuke not tell anyone what they had seen. But all Daisuke heard was someone asking them to lie. They said nothing and stormed away. Subaki was worried that Daisuke fully intended to tell someone and devoted his time when Daisuke was training to helping them and offering advice. Daisuke did not plan to tell anyone and they knew Subaki was only showing them attention and kindness to win them over. Daisuke had dreamed all their life of being spoken to by one of their heroes, being able to stand this close to one of their heroes, and now that it was happening, it was worse than they could have ever anticipated. Daisuke furiously shouted, “I’m sick of all these lies! Stop lying to me! Just tell me what you’re really thinking!” They wanted to yell this to the whole world, but Subaki was the one standing right in from of them. Subaki was quiet for a time and then admitted, “You don’t have what it takes to be a sky knight.” Daisuke could feel their heart shattering again, like when they’d been told they would never make it as a ninja. But this was so much worse. To be told directly by their hero. Daisuke threw their naginata to the ground and left. The other sky knights in training all whispered nervously to themselves about how harsh Subaki was.

Daisuke packed their belongings and left the Hoshidan army. They didn’t have anywhere to go since they didn’t intend to return home, but they left. Not knowing where to go, they followed paths leading to the border of Hoshido and Nohr. These places were the most dangerous and Daisuke avoided all armies, not wishing to be recognised by any Hoshidan soldiers. It was only a matter of time, Daisuke was sure, before they were found and killed by Nohrians. Perhaps it would be a Faceless. Recalling the day they were rescued by Ryoma, Daisuke wondered if they should have died back then after all.

Daisuke did come across some Faceless, but there were very few and easily dealt with by Daisuke’s naginata. One evening when Daisuke was setting up camp for the night, a Faceless approached while they were distracted. Before Daisuke could react, they were rescued. Unlike the time when they were a child, this rescue was not swift. Their rescuer lunged at the Faceless with a Nohrian sword and Daisuke even had time to grab their naginata and help. After that, Daisuke looked over their rescuer suspiciously. “Why did you help me? You’re a Nohrian, and surely you can tell I’m a Hoshidan,” Daisuke said. “I’m a mercenary,” the Nohrian replied, “and while you don’t look that rich, some travelers have very deep pockets.” “If you wanted my money, you could have waited until I was dead to rob me,” Daisuke said. “I’m not that heartless!” the Nohrian said.

The Nohrian mercenary introduced herself as Noelle. Daisuke suspected that if they allowed Noelle to stay the night at their camp, they would have their throat cut in their sleep. This didn’t happen. Noelle spoke to Daisuke that night before they took turns to sleep and Daisuke realised Noelle knew quite a bit about the war that was going on around them. Daisuke asked many questions, especially wondering how Noelle had learnt all she had. Noelle explained that it was easy to become indoctrinated in Nohr, but being a mercenary on the outside of the war had helped her see the truth. Daisuke wanted to know everything she had to say. They wanted truth more than anything. Noelle told them that the first step to truth is to become cynical, and then she smirked.

Daisuke and Noelle traveled together for some time. Noelle led them away from the border and when they arrived in a neutral village, they discussed things at further length. When Daisuke asked about what they should do, Noelle suggested several neutral kingdoms they could head towards. But Daisuke was dissatisfied with this idea. They didn’t want to stay on the sidelines and let things run their course. Noelle then told Daisuke to consider what had made them question their loyalty to Hoshido in the first place. Noelle knew things about the war that others may not, but she didn’t know much about Hoshido itself. During their stay in this village, Noelle set up a target outside and trained with her bow. “I know a lot of people told you that you were no good at a lot of stuff, so do you want to try out a bow?” Noelle asked. Daisuke shrugged and took the bow in their own hands. Looking at the target ahead and imagining Subaki’s face as he had shattered their dreams, Daisuke fired an arrow directly into the target. With wide eyes, Noelle said, “Hey, maybe you’ve got what it takes to be a really good archer!” Daisuke smiled weakly and said, “Maybe what I was lacking was a good motivator. It seems like spite is of more use to me than love ever was.”

Daisuke and Noelle parted ways when Daisuke decided to return to Hoshido. Noelle bought a bow and quiver just for them before they left, however. Daisuke continued travelling alone until they caught up with the Hoshidan army once again. They were unsure how to re-enter and find their place once again. Nobody questioned them at first, since they looked so much like all the other soldiers. However, as Daisuke was wandering through the army encampment, they spotted Subaki talking to some other soldiers. Daisuke could not help themself. They reached for the bow Noelle had given them and an arrow from their quiver, but before they could fire it, they were tackled to the ground by a Hoshidan soldier. The encampment was in a panic, worrying that Daisuke was a spy and there were more around. Subaki rushed over and when he recognised Daisuke, he was shocked. “Daisuke? You... you betrayed us for Nohr?“ Subaki questioned. Daisuke said nothing in response to that and was taken to the closest prison.

The Hoshidan army continued to be suspicious about other possible spies so Daisuke was questioned. Daisuke could not find the words to explain their actions, so they usually said nothing. If Daisuke insisted they didn’t know about any spies, they were not believed. Finally one day, Subaki visited Daisuke’s cell. He asked why had Daisuke left and come back. And Daisuke replied, “I did not want to fight for anyone anymore. I did not want to fight for you anymore. I did not want to fight for Ryoma anymore. I did not want to fight for Mikoto anymore. But I came back because... I want to fight for Hoshido. My home.”

Daisuke was surprised when Subaki let them out of their cell, but not as surprised as the other soldiers. Subaki handed Daisuke the bow and quiver they’d been given by Noelle and led them to an archery range. “Show me what you can do,” Subaki commanded. Daisuke imagined the face of who he hated most as the target once again and fired, hitting the mark almost perfectly. Subaki smiled and said, “What do you think about trying to become a kinshi knight?” Before Daisuke could reply, several people appeared, demanding to know why Daisuke was out of their cell. Subaki told them Daisuke was not a spy and that he would vouch for them. There were some arguments but eventually, Subaki convinced them to trust his word. Before Daisuke could get back to being the soldier they’d always been, Subaki told them one more thing. “Even if you’re here to fight for Hoshido, you still need to get along with your fellow soldiers. So don’t go around shooting your allies, okay?”

Author Note: fher43 that headcanon needed to be written. I hope you like it. :: December 18: Daycare Taka "He's a good boy," Hinata poked the giggling child's belly and handed him to Sasuke. "Just make s-sure to feed and change him on time. Oh, and make sure he gets lots of attention." Sasuke held his son close and glared at the three. "Do not hurt my child." Suigetsu grinned. "Wouldn't dream of it! We'll keep a close eye on it." "He. Daisuke," Sasuke corrected. Hinata smiled and handed Karin his blanket. "He can't s-sleep without this. Please don't lose it." Karin took the blue blanket in her hands. "What will happen?" Sasuke shook his head and simply repeated. "Don't lose it." Hinata clasped her hands. "We h-have to go now," she kissed the boy's cheek. "Love you, Pie." Sasuke turned away from everyone and whispered something to his son. Hinata nearly sweat-dropped at the lengths Sasuke would go through not to be perceived as 'weak.' He handed Daisuke to Juugo. The large man carefully took the boy. "We'll take care of him, Sasuke." "I know you will. Watch these two." Hinata pulled her husband out the door. Taka all stared at the onyx eyed boy. He gnawed happily on Juugo's shirt. "I imagine Sasuke looking like this," Karin cooed. Daisuke looked at the woman and reached out for her face. "Awh-wait, hey!" Daisuke stole her glasses and laughed at her face. His cheeks were so chunky along with the rest of his limbs. "If he's going to be laughing all night then this is going to be a piece of Pie-kun!" Suigetsu tickled his belly. The boy squirmed with glee. "Stop being so cute." When he looked up at his teammates. Their faces held great judgement. Karin replaced her glasses and looked at the note that Hinata left. "They already have him a bath. All we have to do is feed him, burp him and put him to sleep." "Easy enough," Suigetsu nodded. "I'll take him. Juugo, my man, you fix the food." "Why do you get to hold him?" Juugo asked. "Sasuke left him in my arms." "That's not fair. I want him. I'm his Uncle." "Me too." Karin threw her arms in the arm. "Give him to me. I have that Motherly Touch that he needs." "Then go get his foo-" Karin punched the man through the head. Daisuke squeaked and giggled at it. Suigetsu's head formed back. "He is adorable." Karin crossed her arms. "Let's all fix his food and put him on the floor." "Yeah, make him a pillow fort." :: After feeding Daisuke, which was the second hardest thing they had to do that night...the first was... The child placed his foot in his mouth and curiously peered at Suigetsu as the white haired male tried changing his diaper. "Why do I have to do this!?" Karin sat on the couch watching from a distance. "I don't do diapers." Suigetsu grumbled. "You don't do a lot." "What?!" She shouted. Juugo coughed. "Focus-" both men freaked out as Daisuke started peeing. Suigetsu shouted when it got on his shirt. "Oh god, oh god, he peed on me! He peed on me!" "Stop crying. A infants pee isn't like ours. He's isn't as toxic." "I don't give a rats...behind what's in it. He just peed on me!" The whole time Daisuke smiled and continued gnawing on his feet. Karin burped him and freaked out about the sit-up. Finally bed time came... "Alright," he placed him in his crib. "Where's his blanket?" Juugo asked Suigetsu. Suigetsu looked at Karin. Karin looked at her empty hands. "Karin..." "It's in the l-living room!" She ran out and started searching. "It was just..." Juugo and Suigetsu walked into the living room. Juugo held the child in his arms. "Da-arn it, just put him to sleep. The kid won't notice." "Lady Uchiha said not to put him to sleep without it." Juugo bounced the giggling child in his arms. "He's a baby! It'll be fine." They all looked at each other wearily. It was all fun and games until Daisuke got visibly tired and didn't want to sleep. He started to frown. "No, no, you'll be okay." Karin whispered. "Don't cry-" Daisuke whines turned to wailing. Team Taka was scared! This child was laughing the entire night. "Stop it!" Suigetsu closed his ears. Daisuke wormed around in Juugo's arms. His cries got progressively louder. "He'll give up... Just let him cry it out." Three hours passed, two neighbors came with concerned. "W-we lost his blanket..." Karin was almost in tears. "Oh dear..." The old woman whispered. "Good luck," she hurried off. "Don't go!" She cried. "I'm s-so tired!" Daisuke was still screaming. Juugo and Suigetsu were trying everything. No avail. Karin even transformed into Hinata. It made it twelve thousand times worst. "This is her fault! Hinata said not to lose it." Suigetsu pointed at Karin. "It was in my hands!" Karin looked at her shaky hands. "Then I threw my hands...up..." She started looking the couch and pulled out the blanket. "Bless his name." "What's so great about this damn blanket?" Suigetsu snatched it her and sniffed it. "Cinnamon...and blueberries..." Juugo took the blanket and gave it to the child. "It smells like Lady Uchiha." "Sasuke uses blueberry shampoo, right?" Suigetsu asked. The three cooed at the happy child. He rubbed the blanket over his face. "He likes it because it reminds him of his paaaarents," Suigetsu poked his belly. Daisuke yawned and curled into a ball. "I'm exhausted." :: Hinata and Sasuke came home to see a sleeping Karin and Suigetsu under either one of Juugo's arms. Daisuke head lifted from Juugo's chest with a happy squeal. "Awh, baby." Hinata quietly picked him up. Sasuke crossed his arms. "I should wake them up." Hinata shook her head and kissed Daisuke's cheek. "Looks like they lost the blanket for a while. Let them sleep." An hour later all three woke up, "Daisuke!" Sasuke was bouncing the boy on his lap. Hinata smiled at them. "Breakfast is ready." They all but ran into the kitchen. "Had fun?" Suigetsu yawned. "Easy as pie!"
