Here’s some positivity for introjects whose source is an OC!
As introjects, we are not likely able to choose our source. No introject should feel bad, weird, or guilty for what their source is. This is just as true for fictives of OCs as it is for any other introject!
It’s absolutely valid to be an introject of an OC. Whether the OC was originally created by a headmate, the system collectively, a friend, or anyone else, you are still your own person and are deserving of autonomy, agency, and respect!
It’s okay to be an introject from a story, poem, song, RP, campaign, play, or any work made by someone in your system. It’s not weird or cringey in the slightest! You’re still your own person, capable of learning, growth, and development!
Remember it’s okay to still identify very strongly with your source, even if it’s an OC! You’re allowed to get excited and talk about your source, and you’re also allowed to distance yourself from it and not want much to do with it at all! Your source may be a creation of someone in your system, but you’re allowed to dictate how you want to interact with your source. It’s okay to ask your system to talk less about the OC you’re based on, or even to ask them to change their OC slightly or only focus on continuing their work with that OC when you’re not fronting!
Every system is unique, so please discuss with your headmates how best to approach dealing with your source, especially if your source is an OC created by someone else in your system. Together y’all can work towards a future where each headmate can live their lives to the fullest while expressing themselves creatively and authentically!
