I need to figure out how to make my (pretty new) OC Margot more of a cringe girlfailure than she already is. She doesn't like socializing and isolates herself and only cares about her interests and doesn't take the best care of herself or her living space and is kinda off-putting to others. And I love her.

Dare’s desk and pin board, circa senior year of high school (1986). He kept updates on Gogo’s case and cut out news clippings and the like up until he left for college. New era of life, new start. Best to leave lingering grief behind and finally move on. (that lasts about a week 💀)

so many tiny details in this one, took over three days aaugh. But it was fun to pour Dare’s character into all the little tidbits in his workspace. This assignment is like a week and a half late now but hey, I’m proud of my work lol

teacher one: “Margot obviously just expresses her feelings and opinions very… physically. I think she’d really benefit from having a designated place to let loose outside of school. I think I’ll recommend martial arts lessons next parent-teacher conference.”

teacher two: “You want to TRAIN HER?”

1. What kind of person is your OC in a crisis? Are they calm and collected? Do they panic? Or are they chronically the cause?

because she has the power of seeing the future [through ghost communication] on her side, margot can stay pretty level headed in a crisis, since in a way someone or something is always holding her hand through it. and Thats what always keeps her going, and lets her keep her more positive outlook on life. thats not to say she Cant panic. because by god can she panic. but that's very rare and generally only reserved for an absolute catastrophe.

she maintains the Calm Aura in a crisis by way of being extremely blunt but in a well meaning way thats actually more comforting than all the Oh Nooo You're Gonna Be Ok ): platitudes. she will shake sense into you one way or another

3. What is your OC's financial status? Are they just scraping by, making enough to live comfortably, or wealthy? Has there ever been a drastic change in their status? If so, what happened?

despite having a fortune telling business, she's actually getting by pretty comfortably [with a jewellery/craft business on the side], which is down to her uncomfortable accuracy, draws in people from all over the country. this job Was the drastic change in status, once word started spreading of her skills. before that both her and beck [her brother] were working multiple jobs between them just to get by. they're doing much better now, and beck helps out at the shop [:

6. Does your OC know magic? Were they born with magical ability or did they train to acquire it? What is their favorite type of magic? Least favorite?

like i said in the last answers, she can "see the future", but not in the typical way. it's more a direct line of communication with ghosts that seem to have a near infinite amount of knowledge on whoever she's reading, which helps her piece together a "vision" of the future, which are like. 90% accurate. i need to flesh it all out more but thats like. the very very basic explanation of it

she wasn't born with the ability, she kind of. stumbled into it?? when she was pretty young. caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, and all planes of existence warped for a few minutes [which they shouldnt have!!] and both she and beck were caught in the fluctuation which allowed them to "pass through" all the layers between them and death so now they both have a direct line of communication with the dead [:

10. Is your OC sentimental or pragmatic? Do they keep mementos or only what they need to survive? Have they always been this way or did something happen to make them change?

she has always been sentimental. maximalism. she Loves having things. collecting things. gathering. she loves trinkets and clutter so much it always makes the place she lives feel so much more Alive. which is a nice touch when she's surrounded by ghosts pretty much all the time,,, plus all the clutter seems.to help Ground the ghosts in one way or another,,, kinda like forming a connection with the objects. so it serves a purpose alongside just looking very fun [: not that she started it for that specific reason,,, margot has Always been a collector. especially pretty rocks and stones. And frogs. and anything gold. and green. AND tarot decks

HEHEHEHE ok. ok. margot one of the 5 main characters of my original story [: she can see and communicate with ghosts, much like her brother beck, but while he's tormented by them, margot seems to have found comfort and friendship in them. they're generally very polite and help her with her daily life. she can also see into the future! whether it's the ghosts helping her or just another natural gift is unclear, but that doesn't stop her from using it - she's even made a business out of it.

margot can predict the future with an eerie amount of accuracy, and because of that, has gained popularity locally, and a niche following online, with people all over the world coming to visit her in her small town store to find out it she's actually the real deal she's been hyped up to be [she is!!!]

she runs the shop with her brother, but he mostly stays in the background, handling appointments and payments etc. he doesn't want that kind of recognition. he wants to be in the shadows as much as possible.

which is unfortunate because one day, margot straight up vanishes from the town, so beck is left in charge all on his own.

and even more unfortunately he's the only one who remembers she's even missing in the first place. which is the event that brings the whole gang together [:

alex and ryan have gone through the same experience to varying degrees, and they've decided it's their job to finally put an end to it
