Yeah so she's doing well

My husband made a dnd class called an Apostate, which is like a secular paladin, not beholden to any higher power. Instead, they utilize mortal souls to give them power, like the gods they defy.

Here's my Apostate, Nebula. She's what's called an Arusan in his homebrew historical fiction. Arusan's are the humans of the Shadow Plane. Arusan's have quirks about them, and hers is that she's slightly blurry in low light. She'll be set in the 6th century AD, around Rome.

Nebula was orphaned as an infant and raised by [a temple I have yet to choose] and since she's blurry in low light, they named her Nebula, which means fog in Latin. She grew up with the teachings of the gods and was readying to take her own vows and become a Cleric, but she was always curious. When none of her questions yielded sufficient answers (such as 'why let so many people die when you could so easily save them?' and 'why are they allowing wars to be fought in their names?') she decided they must be the most petty beings in existence, and why should such petty beings be deserving of worship? Because they're powerful? Mortals could achieve that power given enough time and effort. So she split from her order and instead vowed to protect the people of the realm from those whose zealotry would cause more harm than good.
