I made some icons for my Splatoon characters :] As well as my friend's character!

Cartridge on the left and Pen (my friend's OC) on the right! Wanted them to match icons because they have a connection to each other!

And the rest of my characters! Neo is first, Shoal second and Smuck last! These were really fun to draw and it made me happy to draw my Splatoon guys after a good while!

Okay, lets rip the bandage off and get these fellas out here fast.

Kaiju Paradise is kinda a controversial topic, I started seeing. Just wanted to point out that I made OCs of these fellas way back around 2022, a few in 2023, back when I actually enjoyed the game. I mostly do not anymore. I just appreciate the great character designs they have to offer.

In the case of Faye and Kimi, they, alongside Netsui, were the first KP OCs I made way back in April of 2022, a few months before the whole drama with the creator of Faye's species even arose, and two years before the creator of Kimi's species did, as well. I didn't feel great scrapping these OCs that were pretty massive in their lore storyline, so I kept them (Plus, I still REALLY like the designs).

Okay, now that I kind of cleared all that up, I'll get to more about the refs themselves.

Fun fact, I actually made these guys's updated refs between January and March of this year! They were actually the first of my OCs to receive redesign/updated refs.

However, obviously, since they are earlier refs, they are somewhat subject to needing redesign. In the case of Exo, Zea, and Netsui, they were the earliest of the bunch to get refs, being the January ones. They have somewhat of a faulty anatomy because of this, and simply need an update for it.

Umbra and Exo simply just need a redesign entirely because their gootraxian species recieved redesigns in Kaiju Paradise itself.

Eugh. Whatever. Here's seven more refs for y'all to look at.

Oh yeah. Worth noting, these fellas BY FAR have the most lore written about them over all my OCs, because their backstories are just so convoluted and complex. I think I have like a whole 100+ page google doc story about em, granted it's unfinished and very shittily written.

Neo was never much for chems before the war. He’d seen addiction run through his family and in a previous life he swore to avoid all substances like the plague, alcohol included. It made conversations with others difficult before, always turning down a beer or declining going out with his coworkers to the bar, but he could live with that. It was fine.

He changed his mind after stepping into the wasteland for the first time. There was no way he could handle the new world sober.

It’s why Neo found himself hanging around Goodneighbor more often than not- Sanctuary was too painful to stay for long, even with Preston there to comfort him. Chems became a way to blur his past into a dull ache, and fuck if he wasn’t going to take advantage of one of the best sources of free drugs in the Commonwealth.

Hancock squeezed his knee, bringing him back to the present. “You okay? You’re not as talkative as usual.”

Neo rolled his eyes. “I’m waiting for you to bring out something better. It’s a national holiday, didn’t you know?”

“Oh? And what holiday would that be?”

“National Neo-Wants-The-Good-Shit Day. School gets cancelled, everyone gets the day off, it's a bigger deal than Christmas. Ask Daisy if you don’t believe me.”

I think it's pretty funny to think of how there are still inkling and octolings going to work whenever a Splatfest is going on. I went to play Salmon Run and it felt odd to be away from all the bright Splatfest into a landscape infested by salmonids who harass you. Something funny about that, so I image Smuck just working during the fest instead of partying with his friends lol

Glow (who's hair is consistently changing) and Neo have joined a Team Skeleton! Neo just followed Glow's lead and chose her team, she's still not used to Splatfests entirely. But they're getting there!
