5: their crying

A crying Rin is an aggressive Rin. She'll lash out, yell threats, growl or roar with a cracking voice. There'll be lots of rubbing at her eyes because the tears just freeze and slowly build up to obscure her vision, which just adds to the anger and frustration of feeling An Emotion for her.

The more intense the crying, the more intense the aggression. It might start with just some half-hearted threats, but get the tears flowing and there will be screaming, property damage, grievous bodily harm. She doesn't handle the loss of emotional control which comes with a good cry well.

Talyn is the exact opposite. She'll retreat into herself, make herself as small as possible. Bottle it up. Keep those emotions under control so you don't hurt anyone. At best a Talyn cry might be a few streaks of tears and a forlorn look into the distance. At worst it's hunched over, curled up, and horrible, choking sobs tearing their way out of her throat.

Don't try to comfort her. It won't end well for you. She knows this, and it just makes it all the worse.

16: Them sleepy

Rin either insists she isn't tired, or complains about how tired she is. Depends on the current company. The usual flair and swagger she usually puts out is replaced with entirely non-flashy, terse and efficient actions. If someone presses her about it, she'll get angry, but a slightly more impotent angry than usual...unless you *really* push her.

This might very well be the only state in which you see Talyn relaxed. She'll desperately try to keep herself composed and stay awake, but the sleepier she gets the more the tension drains and she steadily turns from a rigid beam of a person, to a puddle, leaning and slumping on anything or, if sleepy enough to not realise, anyone nearby.

Rin can't swim. absolutely useless at it. if she weren't naturally buoyant (by freezing the water around her and clinging to the chunks of ice) venturing into any deeper water would be a major risk. she's far too proud to admit this and always contrives a way to avoid getting into the water wherever possible.

Talyn has occasional vivid, erotically charged dreams of her messily devouring rin. no she definitely doesn't have any repressed desires, no way, nuh-uh

Zedd can't read or write. He's fine with certain ancient, long dead languages, but modern words and letters? no clue whatsoever

Scraps got their name from the necromancer they briefly served. the necromancer was largely unimpressed with this runt of the litter kobold and told their servants to "toss it in the pit with the other scraps" and they figured 'scraps, yeah sure, that works' and called themselves scraps ever since

1 - What’s the lie your character says most often?

Out loud it's "I'm fine" or some variation thereof. Internally it's "I don't deserve X" or "I'm not good enough" or "I'm in control, I'm not going to freak out."

2 - How loosely or strictly do they use the word ‘friend’?

Incredibly strictly. Unless someone has very explicitly stated confirmation that they consider Talyn a friend, she won't use the word friend, because she doesn't want to impose. Even if someone has said that they're friends, she still probably won't use the world, just in case. (She's never forward enough to actually ask anyone if they're friends so the amount of people she uses the word for is basically zero)

34 - How do they greet someone they like / love?

The same way she greets most people: by momentarily glancing in their direction, maybe mumbling something vaguely resembling a 'hello' to be polite, and then pretending like she doesn't exist and assuming that if the other person wanted to interact in any way they would be the one to initiate it. The only way this differs to a person she's in love with is that she might try to hide the fact that she's staring at them and swallow down the urge to go absolutely feral on them.

48 - Who would they say ‘yes’ to if invited to do something they abhorred / strongly didn’t want to do?

Almost everyone. She's a massive people pleaser and has a hard time saying no to anyone. Rin especially though. She has never once said no to anything Rin has suggested.

49 - Would they eat something they find gross to be polite?

Absolutely. She will always decline any offer of a meal out of politeness and not wanting to impose, but if someone serves her something she will eat that whole disgusting thing with a smile on her face and an agonised look in her eyes without hesitation.

10 - What's an AU that would be interesting to explore with your OC?

Y'know i haven't really thought much about AUs, I've got pretty much everything I need for them in their current world but I have been thinking about cyberpunk Talyn after replaying Shadowrun Hong Kong.

Unwillingly given cybernetic augmentations, or having a glitch which makes her cybernetics go haywire, forced to exist as an unnaturally enhanced killing machine with limited control over the threat detection software in her brain. Whoops, your combat software has just designated the barista who just gave you your coffee a threat and now your wrist mounted flamethrower has activated, have fun dealing with that.

24 - What is an alternative life path your OC might have gone down? How different would their life be if they'd made those decisions?

Well Talyn could have chosen to stay home and open up a little bit and everything would have been literally fine. The entire crux of her story is that she thinks she's unworthy and so runs away from her community and this just makes everything worse for her, so deciding to not do that would improve things for her immeasurably. She'd be happy, and safe, and wouldn't have anxiety that turns her into a ravenous monster.

Rin's entire deal is that her mother tried to use and abuse her, and she ran away from that and became a vagabond roaming around and causing petty mischief for amusement. If she'd decided to stay then she either becomes a slave, or overthrows her mother and becomes an all powerful sorcerous queen subjugating the entire land until she's deposed or a dragon (they eat magic in my setting and are inevitably attracted to people overusing it) is drawn to her excessive magic use and destroys her and everything in a five mile radius. So it ends badly for her either way.

25 - What is your favorite thing about your OC?

I like that Talyn is a big pile of body horror and I can do what I want with her physicality and I like that Rin is small and mean.

talyn, in zedd's outfit, because she has the problem of occasionally turning into a huge, spiky, ravenous monster and ruining all her clothes, and zedd is a generous boy with absolutely no concept of shame so he was already stripping down before she even thought about asking to borrow a shirt, or pants, or just all of it
