Buff Oathsworn
What scenario might test their convictions?
OOO this is such an interesting question because he's a Paladin now so there's this desire to deliver justice. However, justice is tricky because how do you determine what is good or bad? Is that even a true concept? He shows no mercy to the wicked especially if they have wronged the helpless, but what happens when that face is of someone you used to be friends with? As of late, he finds himself constantly tested.
What is the biggest crime your OC has committed? Are they a thief, a cheat, a liar? What is the smallest, most petty crime they’ve committed? Or do they not do crime at all?
The biggest crime was being wanted for a murder of four. (To be fair-) Contrary to popular belief (by the law), he isn't one to engage in crime. In what I would call phase two of his character arc, he would typically spend the day completing tasks for money, drowning his sorrows in a drink or trying to keep Bone out of trouble. As of late, he seems to be getting framed for stuff that he SWEARS is for the greater good those dudes were zealots soft launching the end of the world-
What makes your OC impatient? What can’t they wait for? Why?
He get's impatient when enemies outsmart him, usually is when he'll enter into a blinding rage. He doesn't like to lose and especially hates to stay inactive in the face of nefarious machinations. Besides that he is pretty mellow and goes with the flow.
What is the most recent thing you’ve discovered about your OC?
He is also dyslexic LMAO! I didn't include in his backstory that he couldn't read, and his stats don't support that however, it is taking him a really long time to read a book because I keep rolling below an 8! Also I'm constantly surprised at his perseverance in spite of all of the adversity, it's not at all how I'd expect things to go!
+ the rest under the cut :3
Violetta Blackheart
Do they get angry/lose their temper quickly?
I would love to say yes but that would be a complete lie just looking at how long she has endured being around the whims of Straud and the Immortalis. Especially when standing down at this conversation. She carries quite a bit of temperance but the question is why? I feel like that one is one I am still solving together with her.
2. Are there any rumours about your OC hanging around? Nasty ones or just good humoured? Got any gossip to share about them? 👁👁
She is coined with the name Engel der Nacht/Nacht, it's so well-known that even Oxalis calls her this without knowing her. But it's not a good nickname, oftentimes, she's associated with death. Or that she is secretly the executioner working for Straud rather than a detective for the Crown. A lot of people, rightfully so, don't feel like she has their interests in mind.
3. Does your OC have any quirks or habits? Do they whistle without noticing it? Do they chew their fingernails? Do they realize they’re doing these things? Do they care?
YES! So every time I pose her, there's a lot of fiddling of the hands or the hands on/hovering over the stomach, not really knowing what to do with them. In the beginning, I was looking at a lot of references of Victorian women and what they would look like during their promenades and seeing how that would translate to a nearly 600 year old vampire. And then I just felt like, Violetta, would probably be so frustrated, overwhelmed and forgetful over the little manners that evolve over time so nervous hand fiddles it is!
4. If you were to choose another name for your oc, what do you think it would be? Did you choose it for how it sounds or for its meaning?
OOO yes, I go in depth here about names and alternate names! I originally wanted to go with Violet but as mentioned, Violet is the name of another OC. But also building off of that, I wanted it to be named after a flower (Viola/Violet) to coincide with Oxalis being named after a plant. I reached a happy middle with Violett being her human name. The thought behind the change from Violett to Violetta was in a way Straud's dismissal of her agency. That she belonged to the Immortalis now, who you were, no longer matters.
Oxalis Tetraphylla
1. What are the most painful words that can be said to your OC to utterly break them? What are the words that you could tell them to cheer them up?
It would have to be somewhere along the lines of someone not being who you expected them to be. Moreso as discovering someone is intentionally two-faced. As for cheering up, I definitely know the words for this one and that's "Would you like to see *insert animal here*?"
2. Does your OC like flowers? What are their favourites? Do they keep a garden of some sort? What flowers would they use in a flower crown?
YES! Since her family and faerie clan are more nomadic, having a dedicated garden was not in the cards for her during that lifestyle. As for a flower crown, definitely dainty flowers such as lily of the valley or baby's breath. These aren't her favorite but she likes wispy flower crowns. Her favorite flower is difficult but I feel like foxglove is a close choice. Also, bonus but the bearded iris reminds her of her and Violetta :")
3. What does your OC do for a living? If they don’t have a job, then what do they usually do?
Hmm okay. Without spoiling to much, she works for the Queen of the Faeries, Queen Titania. What that job entails, we'll find out soon O_O
4. Does your oc prefer being in a crowd or being completely alone? How many people can be around them before they get uncomfortable?
She definitely doesn't mind being around others, being social and living in communal spaces has made her open to engaging with others. However, if she can't spread out her wings and people are packed like sardines then it isn't a fun time for her >_<
For the Emoji Ask Game:
💔 How do you break their heart?
For 3 different OCS : 3
hai! ty for the ask :D (divider credit, recolored by me)
Violetta Blackheart
💔 How do you break their heart?
Deceive her as someone you are not. Ulterior motives are common the higher you climb and it is incredibly rare to meet someone with your best interests in mind.
Oxalis Tetraphylla
💔 How do you break their heart?
You break Oxalis' heart by letting her down. Not in like a minor you've forgotten to take the scraps out but in a moment that matters. Something that is life-changing and bigger than her.
Buff Oathsworn
💔 How do you break their heart?
That's a difficult question because you can't break something that's already broken- No but seriously, I do worry at times that he might be taken advantage of >_>
warlock: Has your muse ever made a deal to get something they wanted? Is there anything your muse wants enough to broker for it? What would your muse sacrifice to get what they want?
Yes! Twice! So the first time was Buff bartered to buy a crystal for half price but the catch was he couldn't ask what it does. Turns out it was a memory crystal needed for the catacombs in exchange for waking up his other party members. So that one was pretty mellow but the second time, the Goliath in the party had this uncontrollable urge to kill this lost dwarf in the catacombs. Buff intervenes while saying "Cool it. You will have blood soon enough." And instead of the Goliath responding, a woman's voice responds with "Is that a deal?" So. Buff.... Buff agrees and before you know it, the urge came back and our Goliath swung on Bone. (He missed.) Buff is the type of person to wager anything if it meant saving a life, especially if it's someone he cares for. He did it multiple times in the catacombs, some without deals. However, he's come to the conclusion that a penance eventually needs to be paid, by any means necessary. And to continuously rely on the external, brings in more variables that are out of his control and at times, harmful.
sorcerer: What are your muse's natural talents? Have they taken the time to hone those skills? Do they like to show off, or are they quiet about their abilities?
Buff is incredibly humble when it comes to showing off anything. To be the one that sees yet isn't seen is a phrase I resonate with him. He has an appreciation/gravitation with craftsmanship. Whether it's learning how to weave, build a foundation, or set a trap. His dad would find himself frustrated as Buff was supposed to be preoccupied with leadership, his fighting skills and "politics." I say politics loosely as they were more into pillaging surrounding villages than creating diplomacy. He's really in tune with nature in regards to hunting and survival. That mostly came from his time back home, but after his exile, he took a long break from society, really putting those skills into work. You can see all of the little craftsmanship details when it comes to the accessories he wears on himself or his weapons. I'd imagine his battle axe, Chaos, to be entwined with jute he's braided. The braids holding different stones he's found during his time. With his newest spear, Firestorm, he's in the process of adding in those little details :)
𖦹 Buff's story begins in the campaign on a rainy night in a town called Redwick. Inside resides the Splitcoin Tavern, a rogue Ravenfolk snags coin off of a drunken patron, while being watched over a cleric Aasimar. Meanwhile a Goliath fighter finds himself in a discourse with a rowdy drunk, who swears he could take him on. Push comes to shove as the man tests his luck, insistent on a fight. The Goliath easily overtakes the drunk only to realize he's a guard and his friends have just entered the scene. Outbursts between the patrons, the barkeep and the guards erupt as fingers are pointed and tension arises.
However, it all comes to a halt when the door opens to a large cloaked figure. Unveiling his hood, reveals Buff, covered in the slick of rainwater. He makes his way to the bar, taking a seat uncomfortably before being approached by one of the guards. He announces that Buff is wanted for the murder of four as well as linking the other three patrons with the murders. Before he can proceed, a loud hoot and a skeleton jumps from the ceiling beam onto one of the guards. Distracted, Buff is able to shove one of the accuser to the ground before readying his axe.
𖦹 His weapon of choice is a great axe and on the rare occasion, throwing axes for ranged. Although his relationship with killing is a bit complicated. Being born into a tribe known for brutality, he's never really connected to that conflict so when he was released by his father to find honor, his newfound freedom came with a downfall. That his only use and skill in society was his ability to kill. There's always a hesitation when it comes to his contracts but at the same time, it's either that or he doesn't eat. And not many are willing to hire this orc as an apprentice for other work.
𖦹 He and Bone have a unique relationship. Although it started as the both of them saving each other in their own ways, it blossomed into companionship after essentially having nothing. Bone is much smaller (more than ts4 allows) and usually hitches a ride on Buff shoulders. Bone does much of the talking while Buff is more like the soft-spoken giant. They both feel like polar opposites in the sense that one has what the other is lacking but their friendship isn't transactional but rather symbiotic!
𖦹 Buff's subclass is the Path of the World Tree. I felt like it resonated with him best since his character really feels like endurance through each scenario he's placed in. That specific class, the more I learn about it, allows him to be durable in instances which feels in character. He deviates from a traditional barbarian and part of that decision was wanting to present a challenge to both me and Buff. I typically lean towards spellcasters or rogues so this felt like a solid introduction towards tank-y characters!
also! linking this tag i answered for Buff! :D i also included how the rest of the session went below ⇣
𖦹 After the encounter at the bar, he and his group are contracted under the barkeeper of Splitcoin Tavern, Edrick Morvin. This was a way for them to pay for the damages and the coin was good. After our short intermission, the DM filled us in with lore of the world. That 700 years ago a titanic city known as Veil Te Run had met it's demise. In the final hours, the stars stopped and the heaven stood still. Beyond veil of knight, a creature emerged. The powerful city wasn't demolished, it was unmade. Two years passed after the brawl at the tavern and the next encounter we jumped into was a dungeon where we searched for a scroll. The first trial was a fight with a bone naga and that was tricky since we sorta free-for-all'd it. But in that, Buff went down to 1 HP and everyone took a lot of damage. Buff did deliver the killing blow which was cool! We then found a bag of holding that granted you what you needed but you had to do a skill check, if you didn't pass it, each time something terrible would happen. Like we had a grenade go off, battled a rabid chicken and finally Bone got some sort of disease on his hand (which opened a quest for later PFFT). The second trial was a time-based puzzle where statues needed to be pushed as the room grew colder. Although that trial was approached with a plan and went smoother, Buff did succumb to the cold. Bone did try to revive him, performing terrible CPR and killing Buff in the process. Buff slipped to the otherside before realizing Bone owed him 17g and was quickly revived by the Aasimar. The session ended with us returning to Redwick as the world started to shift uncomfortably... O_O
thank you for the tag @morrigan-sims ! as requested, here is some lore about Buff ;_;

Occupation: He works for Edrick Morvin as a mercenary (although it's more like he's paying off a debt after destroying this man's bar)
the rest shall be under the cut! ⇣
Favorite
Color: His favorite color would have to be green! It's more comforting if anything. The peacefulness of the forest. The familiarity of his tribe, the Stonlight clan.
Entertainment: In the past, entertainment was hard to come by unless it was the brutish celebrations after a kill or pillaging. However, once he started venturing off into cities, he enjoyed the spectacles life had to offer. Whether it was an entertainer on the street, a bustling market or a lively bar. There was always something new for him to enjoy. Although out of everything, he enjoys a night out in a bar.
Drink: He likes the bubbles of ale. The side effects? Not so much
Pastime: He loves to nature-watch, especially if he finds a nice tree with some plush grass underneath. Lately though, he's started to pick up on sewing his clothes. Although he occasionally needs the help of Bone when it comes to threading the needle. (They both are pretty bad at it!)
Food: Any sort of hearty soup. The first time he tried soups of the city was such a life-changer to him. In his past, all he ever really had was boar, potatoes, and occasional green, but to put it in a soup?? Oh my
Have they...
Passed University: Negative.
Had Sex: Nope.
Had sex in Public: Also nope.
Got Tattoos: No although getting inked has piqued his interest. In his tribe, it was more like ceremonial markings, whereas the city, he likes the artistic element to it!
Got Scarred: Plenty. He has the scar on his nose from sparring in his youth. He has scars from his previous encounters. His most recent was a bite from his encounter with a bone naga.
Had a Broken Heart: Nah. Even the disappointment of his father didn't feel like having his heart broken, deep down inside, it felt like he was finally set free. Even if freedom came with a whole other set of problems.
Are They...
A Cuddler: If he experienced cuddling, I just know he'd enjoy it. But he'd really have to trust the other.
Jealous Easily: No, he finds jealousy, while valid, simply complicates a situation based on paranoia. Although he has more of a logical viewpoint because he's never been placed in a scenario where he's had to experience it.
Trustworthy: Once you get to know him, yes. But at first glance, absolutely not. Especially if his face is covered, he's quite looming, carries a huge ax and has the typical orcish features, he comes off as a bloodthirsty brute. And then the hood comes down and you're sorta perplexed because he has a soft face followed by a quiet voice.
Family
Siblings: None. Bone is like the closest he's experienced to having a sibling.
Parents: His father is Jagg Oathsworn and his mother is Dura the Undying. He wasn't raised by his mother, that was left to the handmaidens so their relationship is practically nonexistent. Meanwhile, he had to answer to his father a bunch and that relationship was strained since Buff had no attachment to taking over the tribe when it was time. His father took Buff's lack of interest as lazy and ungratefulness. Buff simply felt like there was more to life than cruelty. (Which is interesting considering his current occupation requires cruelty at times but I'll yap about that separately!)
