I have a story for everyone, because I finally decided to start writing. So, have an OC centered story, titled ‘Alone Again’, which is about Switch. “ is for when a character actually speaks, and ‘ is just the thoughts.
———
Switch stares. He opens his optics, forcing himself to stand up after laying on the ground for what must have been hours, and stares. Looking up at the sky, Switch noticed the stars. Those definitely hadn’t been out during the fight. Switch definitely knew that.
Undoubtedly the most noticeable thing around here, at least to Switch, was that... nobody was around. Except for her. Evidence of others having been here was all around the area. It certainly wasn’t something that the neutral had imagined. No, it wasn’t.
Little drops of energon—thankfully not Switch’s, although seeing some of it did cause them to worriedly check their body, and not feeling anything, their own energon or anything that hurt when touched, was a few feet away from them.
He couldn’t tell if it was supposed to belong to anyone on the little ‘team’ that the neutral was apart of, or if it was all supposed to belong to any of the Decepticons that had attacked. And, he supposed it wasn’t too important right now anyway.
The only other evidence that could be used to prove that anybody had been here, was due to two blasters a good distance away from Switch, to her right. One seemed to have been snapped in half. The other, a few inches away from it, had just been abandoned. It was still perfect. On each side of both blasters, two noticeable Decepticon insignias sat there proudly.
Switch begins to carefully walk through the area, trying to notice anything else. Like a... a hint. From the little ‘team’, of course. The neutral sighed. She didn’t know why anybody kept calling it that... it didn’t feel like a team. She honestly didn’t know what it was supposed to be, or what it was supposed to feel like. Was it actually supposed to feel like one?
Was it supposed to actually be one? Switch wouldn’t know. And he had a growing feeling that he wouldn’t ever actually get an answer for that. After all, Switch never got answers for most of the ‘teams’ that she worked with. Switch just had to be the member of any team that could easily be disposed of.
‘Alone. Be alone. Stumble across a little group of Cybertronians. Group? Team? Family? What was another term...?’ Switch stared at the abandoned blaster, frowning. ‘Join the... whatever it is. Always end up joining it, can’t help it! Don’t want to be alone...’
Switch tore her optics away from the blaster, and continued to walk, mind still making the decision to look for some kind of clue or hint for where the others could have gone. Although, she already knew it was useless... it always was. The neutral knew why he could never find any of the others.
‘Everything is so good for a while! Everything is! Why can’t it stay like that?!’ Switch resists the urge to shout out “Astral!” Or someone else’s name. Nobody will answer back. And even if they do, he won’t hear. ‘Everything is good. Everything is great. Stupid reasons they make up, stupid reasons!’ Switch gritted their teeth, wings twitching, before beginning to lower.
‘They did it. They finally did it aswell, you idiot! How many times have you joined other people, only for this to happen?! You’re all alone again! You’ll always be alone!’ Switch’s thoughts shouted at him, the bot’s wings lowering further. They spotted a pathway.
“I-I... don’t know why it happens...” Switch whispered, voice breaking. “Is... is it just... me? Is there something that I do that makes ev... everyone want to leave me behind...?” ‘Yes! YES! That’s the only reasonable reason! You know it’s true! It’s because of you! Every. Single. Time.’ Their thoughts shouted.
Switch removed their visor, quick to start wiping at her optics, not wanting the tears to start falling. “Okay...” The neutral whispered, accepting what her own thoughts had to say. Switch didn’t really see a reason to not accept any of it, it seemed pretty true.
They tried to focus on the pathway again that they were still in front of. It was easy to recognize. It was the way that he had come to actually get here. And ‘here’ was a place that Switch didn’t want to stay at for any longer. Why would anyone want to stay here? Nothing was even here to stay for.
“I... I can head that way...” Switch spoke aloud to himself, nodding at the idea. “And... and then I’ll... I can...”
‘You can what? What? Join the Autobots? They’ll just be the same! Everyone will just leave you behind!’ “I-... I can join the Decepticons.” It was a good way to be actually useful. What else could he do...? He was too scared to go to the Autobots...
‘A Deception knows you. You know them.’ Switch’s thoughts piped up, ‘Maybe they’ll convince the rest to let you become one.’
Switch just nodded. She really did hope that the thoughts would be right about that— hopefully they would. After all, the thoughts seemed to be right about all of the ‘teams’. Maybe he should listen to them more often. Maybe.
There might have been a part of the soon-to-be-Decepticon that felt like, maybe, somewhere, there would be people who wouldn’t abandon them. Would she ever meet any of those people...?
The bot forced themselves to start walking through the path, optics trained on the ground. Switch was alone. He’d been abandoned again. Another team had left him. They’d always be alone. Switch had lost count on how many groups had decided to just... leave, decide to abandon them.
As she walked on the path, Switch wanted to try and be positive... but just couldn’t. Alone. Again. ‘Alone AGAIN!’ Switch was alone again. She’d been abandoned again. Beginning to make their way to a Decepticon base that was nearby... Switch felt like everything would just become worse... but, they didn’t know what else to do...
