Hura’s vox chirped with the special sound he’d reserved for his young protege’s cell phone. Interesting - Cedric shouldn’t be on shift for another twenty-eight hours. He pressed the button to accept. “Yes Cedric?”
“I have a new arrival here with a badly infected shoulder. I am doing my best to contain the infection, but require assistance in treating it.” Cedric’s voice came through the speaker. “I believe transport to be inadvisable due to contamination risk.”
Ah. a blessed infection. “Copy. I am on the way to your coordinates.” He grabbed a medbag he had packed for this purpose and headed out.
He could smell the infection before he spotted them. Definitely one of Grandfather’s nastier little gifts. He paused and blinked once as he got in closer. Cedric was sitting on the ground tending to what looked for all the world like a primaris emperor’s child. Silver-white hair, clear lavender eyes, china-smooth skin, even the armor colors were right. He approached carefully, making sure to stay in the newcomer’s sight-line. “Hallo. I am Apothecary Hura. I can remove the infection from your shoulder if you will allow me to touch you.” He came in closer and pulled a stone from his bag to contain the blessing. “What is your name, young one?”
The new arrival turned to look at Hura but didn’t try to move away. “Tomas, Sons of the Phoenix chapter, Infernus Squad.” Hura started to channel the plague into a rough chunk of moss agate that started to take on an unhealthy green glow. “Huh. I didn’t realize they remade Emperor’s children in the Imperium,” he added conversationally.
Cedric narrowed his eyes. “The Sons of the Phoenix are a primaris chapter of Dorn’s geneline.” He stated flatly. Honestly what was Hura thinking.
Hura stared at the pair for a full minute before stepping back and laughing at a length that would have been concerning had he still required oxygen to function. Tomas arched one eyebrow and inquired “Is he always like this?”
“Mostly,” Cedric agrees, checking on Tomas’s shoulder. “Is the infection fully cleared?” He asks Hura with a reproachful look. “Yes, yes, the infection is gone,” Hura manages to get out between laughs, once he remembers that he needs to breathe in order to talk. “Oh, I can’t wait to introduce you to Zaarius!” “And why would he be interested in meeting that stupid winged whore?” Cedric snapped, clearly irritated.
Hura gasped again, having temporarily forgotten that he needs to breathe in order to speak. “Oh, he is a whore, but he’s quite good with little brothers.” Cedric just sighed and helped Tomas up. “C’mon, let’s get back to the base so you can rest up and meet the others.” And leave Hura to get over…whatever had gotten into him.
