Orphaned, sold to a factory
Stunted growth due to chemical exposure and malnutrition
Couldn’t take it anymore and escaped and ran away at 12 years old
Caught stealing fruit from a farmer’s booth at a market
Instead of turning them in, or away the farmer and his wife took them in and raised them.
Learned how to shoot on the farm, had a real nack for it, started entering competitions, won a lot.
Set out for adventure when they came of age
There’s not a whole lot of lore on the solar system that Borderlands is set in, what I was able to find was a list of planets most of which were named after Greek gods and myths, but they ranged from civilized and high tech to wastelands like Pandora (the planet the game is set on), and everything in between. The game has some serious Firefly themes going on (and even references) so I’m taking a bit from the show when it comes to what some of the planets are like. Snap’s home planet will be a mid range planet headed towards higher technology but still rural outside the main cities.
As far as the child/slave labor goes, it’s mentioned and present in Firefly, and considering the horrendousness of the antagonist in Borderlands and how awful the big companies are I have no doubt that there is that sad problem in the Borderlands universe.
On a sketch note, I found a mechanical pencil with blue lead and have been using it for basic layout which has been pretty helpful. I lined and colored that last one like three times and I’m still not 100% satisfied with it but sometimes you just have to say fuck it and move on. I just wanted a color reference anyway :U
