When I snapped this photo I wanted to document the many complexities of American society today: American citizens of various ages & ethnicity expressing themselves next to a homeless man in front of a major tourist attraction (Bayside) with the freshly renovated Freedom tower in the background.

There are many problems.  They need to be dealt with individually for the benefit of all.

Government Energy Education Human Rights Illegal Foreclosure Economy Environment Employment Healthcare Disinformation We the People’s Convention of Florida 2012 have engaged in rigorous debate and consensus building in General Assembly meetings around the state in which we have developed numerous sets of demands, expectations and proposals. Here we attempt to distill many of these ideas into a concise presentation of the most fundamental concepts across the 10 categories listed above. This is not final or exhaustive and further detail will be forthcoming. We have prepared this document for presentation to the 2012 Florida State Legislature in order to begin a dialog and reach out to those who share our commitment to plan and build a future based upon equality and opportunity for all Floridians and all Americans. We expect all government branches and officials to work with us in remaking our dysfunctional government and elections fair, open and reflective of the will and interests of all people.  We expect a tax system that is fair and just regardless of income and penalties for destructive corporate behaviors to provide all necessary funding for aid to those struggling to survive in this devastated economy and take measures to build a prosperous and sustainable future for all.  We expect an increased focus on research, development and deployment of renewable sources of energy and reduced focus on maintaining carbon based sources. We expect that the protection and preservation of our earth and environment be regarded as our highest priority and essential to our future survival.  We expect top quality public education at all levels including continuing education be made open, available and affordable for all who wish to better themselves.  We expect employment meeting minimum standards for compensation to be made available to all who wish to work and for fairness, equality and respect in the workplace to be the law.  We expect human rights and civil rights to be upheld and protected for all humans. We expect that access to quality affordable healthcare will be a human right.  We expect an end to illegal foreclosures where valid documentation cannot be established.  We expect that media sources claiming to report news and information be held accountable to report facts and provide for impartial subscriber elected review bodies to evaluate and rate performance.

"Occupy Orlando stalwart, Tim Osmar showed that you can beat City Hall, and in doing so you can humiliate city officials and law enforcement in general. Osmar’s release from jail made both national and international headlines when news services picked up the article in the Orlando Sentinel. Osmar was arrested for writing on City Hall sidewalks in chalk. There is a city ordinance against sidewalk chalking for advertising and promotion, which Mayor Dyer ignored two years ago when he encouraged local business owners to promote The Orlando Magic’s chances in the NBA Playoffs by chalking their sidewalks among other ways to promote the team. Orlando Sentinel Columnist Scott Maxwell

made mention of it in his January 12 article. Osmar missed the holidays spending three weeks in jail instead. He was released and charges dropped because the city contended that he would have served that time if convicted. The real reason is that there’s no way the city could have made those charges stick. Tim’s position is that he was exercising his first amendment right to protest and that his rights were violated both by the police and his overlong incarceration. Tim’s attorney, Richard Wilson, a prominent first amendment specialist is sharpening his fangs and whetting his appetite to put the city in federal court for the abuse that Tim and a few others have suffered. Other occupiers who have been arrested on trespassing charges are expecting to have the charges dropped or be found innocent as well. Once Tim was released Crayola’s stock should have gone up by 5 or 6 points. His release opened the floodgates for occupiers to state their grievances over every square inch of walkable surfaces at City Hall..."
