OCMUNC: Action

OCMUNC is a MUN conference that our group puts on at our school every year. It's website can be found here. This year, I was a chair of a UN Security Council. Our topics included Conflict Prevention and Natural Resources, Women, Security and Conflict, and The Democratic People's Republic of the Congo Rebel Groups. In preparation for this conference, I wrote a background guide and researched the country positions on my council. During the conference, my job was to guide the discussions of my delegates and judge their performance.

Making my binder up for a Model United Nations confrence this weekend. I'm the UK and I'm carrying a tiny Tardis with me for good luck. :)

I just attened my first ever Model UN confrence.

It was so great.  I was the Russian Federation, which was a little daunting for my first time.  I definitely wasn't prepared for it, but hey, now I know better for next time.  I did help draft our working paper on cyber-warfare, and I was really excited they used my idea as the main point.

I definitely know now that I need to be more vocal and aggressive in my next conference if I want any recognition later on.  I mean, I'm the Russian Fed.  I'm allowed to be really loud and obnoxious.

I absolutely love MUN, and totally recommend it to anyone who is lucky enough to have this club at their high school.
