Character Expectations
wtf y'all
Humanize 'em!
I think @guatemama-satanael 's human version of Taffia has white hair! But since he's based off a Koi, I figured it would make for a great excuse to draw an painfully stereotypical ahaha Asian outfit <.<
I just enjoy drawing Scandinavian trad outfits, so @kenneduck 's King Calci is a Laplander I guess!
Character Inspiration: Zora
Something about @kenneduck 's character designs reminded me of something, couldn't quite put my finger on it until last night. They really remind me of Indian and Persian clothing!
I drew this practically in the dark I apologize
While they aren't related, I find that interesting, because I took inspiration from traditional women's Bedouin attire for Comu's design. Persian & Indian aren't related to the Bedouin as far as I'm aware, but boy have they got some amazing traditional styles.
Sibling Rivalry
I had a very, very funny conversation with @kenneduck about how everyone in the royal family likes Comu. Poor guy. This would have taken place far before Viri or Kenne ever visited Zora's Domain in Hyrule!
And now you get to read our conversation in comic form! Enjoy our madness.
Character Reference: Comu
Can't read my handwriting? neither can I?!?
god this is long
Comu (from "calm" and "calmer") is Prince Ocossu's confidant, advisor, errand-man... you name it, he does it. Originally from the Domain of the Sunken Garden, Comu was offered up to stay with the royal family (@kenneduck ) in a gesture of goodwill. He hasn't been home in so long, he's basically a citizen now.
Comu's role as a sort of attaché is to reassure and advise Ocossu through all difficulties, though he tries to act as Ocossu's conscience in addition to his official duties. It's debatable how effective his efforts are.
Comu is levelheaded, calm, and quiet. Too quiet, actually, as he's prone to staying silent when words would be most useful. It's a little difficult when all your advice and admonishments go right over everyone's head! He's not treated poorly, but he's not taken very seriously.
He's odd looking for a non-depths Zora, and odd-sounding as well. His first language is Old Zoran, though he speaks Hylian, just with an odd accent. It doesn't help that he's got all kinds of teeth poking out of his mouth!
He is familiar with all Ocossu's siblings including Kenne, Viri, Servi and his wife Elisse (@cassielsunstone ); and their mother/mother in law the Queen. He also knows Oley and her husband Tajin, though they only have time to speak during official visits; the same goes for other visiting diplomats.
He's very isolated, as babysitting Ocossu is a full time job with overtime and no extra pay... in spite of everything, he carries it all in stride, hoping for the best but expecting the worst.
Fan Mail
Comu the black viperfish is Prince Ocossu's right-hand man, which you need when you're surrounded by crazy, conniving brothers fighting each other for the throne! But every once in a while, nice things come through...
✨ I got unexpected, cute notes about Ocossu and wanted to thank everyone who liked, reblogged, commented, and drew (Art Fight woohoo!) our little neurotic bad boy! Here's a silly comic ;)
@kenneduck's Servi & younger brother Ocossu... What are they up to?!
