GCSE Maths

My GCSES – Part 2/8

I am in Year 10, which is the year you start studying for your GCSE exams (some start in Year 9), which, for anyone who doesn’t know, are compulsory exams all students have to take at the end of Year 11 (aged 15-16 depending on birthday). Maths is a compulsory subject that all students have to study. Similar to Science, Maths is a 3 year course, whilst all the others (for me anyway) are just two.

OCR GCSE Mathematics

In Mathematics you study:

·         Number and Algebra

·         Geometry and Measures

·         Probability and Statistics

GCSE Maths is examined with three papers, all contributing to 33.3% of the overall grade. Students can be entered at one of 2 levels, each with a restricted grade range.

·         Foundation Tier – grades 5-1 are available

·         Higher Tier – grades 9-4 are available

According to my teachers, I am likely to be entered as a higher tier candidate.
