PROJECT FLASHBACKS // Towards the end of the summer we had a 24 hour fast, prayer, and sharing outreach. Which means we all signed up for an hour during the 24 hours to either go into the prayer room and pray, or go out on the boardwalk and share our faith. Yes that meant going out at 2 am and trying to find people to talk with. To start of the fast/outreach we had a worship night after our Thursday weekly meeting. Well what was a prayer and worship night turned into a mock persecution night. We had the leadership and prayer and vision guys barge in while we were singing yelling at us to all sit down. For 20 minutes they yelled at us saying how what we believe isn’t real and if we move or make a sound they would “kill” us. After about 20 minutes we got split up into groups and they led us downstairs into different rooms. There different people walked in and shared with us stories. The first story was of the very first Christian martyr. Then the stories became more and more recent. Ending with a story from about 5 years ago. During the moments when no one was telling us a story our “captor” was still yelling. And in retaliation we sang “How He Loves”, which was the song we were singing when the persecution started happening. This night made me realize how throughout the world there are people that aren’t safe due to what they believe.
Fast forward to last night. We had a women’s event at my house and we started the night off with some worship. One of the songs was How He Loves. Now whenever I hear this song I think of that night and the people around the world that don’t have the safety to openly worship in their homes. We are so privileged to be able to have Bible studies and worship nights in our home. That night taught me so much. It taught me to always be praying for countries around the world where being a Christian is illegal. It’s something that we don’t always think or talk about, but it should be. We should always be praying for our brothers and sisters in those countries. That they have courage and heart. To not give up. Please pray with me for them.
