Why Don't You Deserve This?
As he wondered the streets he knew so well things were becoming somewhat nostalgic. He remembered deep inside what he felt and saw in the winter months prior, and as summer was ending on this night the feeling was the same. He walked in the increasingly cold winds not even caring for the dangers that could face him; his area wasn't the kinder of areas at night. Although during the day you wouldn't have thought of it, but the night wasn't as in his control as he liked to think. But he knew now that he was alone and in danger every night he went out there alone. The winter prior was one of his darkest times, how each thought that was every clouded in his head was a dark one. He kept on going through one particular night of the winter; this one was the only night that he was happy that season and to a degree that year. He was walking down all the familiar back street and avenues he would take, giving every opportunity for muggers or thugs to take a stab at him. He had done the same routine for the past three weeks and on this night he lost it. He wondered into the nearest empty park and stopped in the middle suddenly. He closed his eyes and his knees buckled landing him kneeling him on the floor. The rain from earlier seeping through his jeans, but given his emotions he didn't care. He just closed his eyes and yelled up into the heavens. 'Why do I deserve this?' He just remained kneeling there with his eyes closed as if expecting an answer. Of course only silence and the gentle rustle of trees came to his call. But despite the gap he just stayed the same, knowing full well that nothing was going to judge him. He began to shake from the cold and so got up and opened his eyes, only to be greeted with the site of a girl in white. The girl looked remorseful and sympathetic in stance, but even so she didn't move. He looked at her straight then looked at himself in foolishness, knowing full well that she saw everything. She giggled at his blank and stupid looking face, while all the while he was mesmerized. She approached him innocently and sweetly while he just stared. She stopped millimeters away from his face and said. 'Why don't you deserve this?' Leaving the boy speechless, even more speechless due to the fact her lips were now pressed against his own. She broke the kiss off and ran away as fast as she could leaving him bewildered in the middle of the park. That night was his life saver and on a night just like it, do you blame him for remembering. He coursed through the memory as he walked on this summer’s evening, the wind slightly less cold but the ground equally as wet. For the sake of his own mind he walked to the same park, with him mind relishing in what happened long ago. But his mind and body depressive for the moment was long ago. He saw the park was empty and instead of looking face down on the ground, he was looking high in the sky at the stars. The only constellation he knew was Orion, but strangely enough he couldn't see it. He looked around for five minutes but still nothing, he then felt a hand at his own and a voice. 'I can't it either if it helps.' He jumped in his own skin and recoiled backwards, soon relaxing and staring for it was the same girl he saw back in winter. She just smiled and pulled her hair back with her free hand. The boy’s heart was pounding and so many questions flew through his head. Before he had settled on his first one, the girl put her finger across his lips and said. 'You have questions I know, but I'm not going to disappear this time.' The boy smiled in gratitude the girls smile following suit. He squeezed her hand and they began to walk, unknowingly falling in love.
