Send this to the twelve nicest people you know or who seem to have a good heart and if you get five back you must be pretty awesome
(I think this is meant to spread love but it kinda seems self inhibiting so you’re pretty awesome to be getting this in the first place)
Hello @oddballzoo
Thank you so much!!

It’s distancing language, though, suggesting a less-than-warm relationship. It’s never said in the books that Thorin and Dìs get along.
That’s an interesting take on it, and definitely possible. As you say, we never actually get a canon insight into how well they get along. I think in fandom we tend to assume that they would be fairly close (perhaps rooted in the fact Thorin appears to care deeply for his nephews), I’ve not seen very many portrayals to the contrary. (I do still like the descriptions throughout the book that suggest Thorin’s in love with the sound of his own voice. Perhaps Dis has got a bit sick of it though, hence their potential rift? :p)

There's a live webcam over the clouds on the BBC website.
Ugh! At least I am not alone with my frustration. Thank you all for telling me; I appreciate it. :)
I’ve been watching it on Eclipse Live on BBC 1, so at least I could experience it via other people. I hope that you have been able to too. Plus, I’m sitting here now ogling enjoying seeing Prof Brian Cox talk about it all. ;)
