Odell 90 Shilling - First time having this. Good to pair with food.
We were over at a friend's house and they had Cloud Catcher, a Milkshake IPA by Odell. M-IPAs are a fairly new substyle of New England IPAs. I actually like them quite a bit. The creamy mouthfeel with a pretty hop forward character can be delicious. Which in this case it is. I think Odell has nailed it.
Odell’s IPA on tap at Lounge 5280 at DIA. A 3 of 4. A great, relatively simple, IPA. Mostly orange citrus in the nose and smells of some faint malt and pine qualities, too. Assertive bitterness up front with plenty of caramel & bready/chewy malt backbone to balance. Finishes dry and with a bit more of a resinous profile than the nose. Nice.
Meh
I’m not sold on the idea of NE IPA, but I do like the recent trend of adding wheat to everything. When I was coming up, wheat was not cool. Wheat beers were for summer barbecues and Bavarian cosplay only. But when added to a willowy IPA, a helping of wheat can fluff it up a little.
After devouring Lagunitas’ Doppel Weizen, I was excited to see Megawheat on the shelf. Stone, Odell, Marble -- these are respected names. I was expecting great things. What I got was a rehash of a tired double IPA with just a little more head on it. Whatever C-hops they used for bittering completely dominated the more delicate Motueka, Mosaic, and Mandarina Bavaria. And the sharp bitterness cut through any softness the wheat might have added. Megawheat was just mega-muddled.

Odell Settle Down Brown Ale
Only available in Idaho
Press Release
Fort Collins, CO. - Odell Brewing has released a new seasonal offering, a 6.5% ABV American Brown Ale, Settle Down Brown.
“The colder months always get us reaching for darker beers with rich malts and warming notes” explains Brendan McGivney, COO. “For Settle Down we took those rich malts and brighten them up with some tropical hops.”
Settle Down Brown’s design is inspired by the log cabin featured in Isolation Ale. “Isolation Ale has been a mainstay in Odell Brewing’s seasonal lineup for 20 years,” said Alex Kayne, Director of Marketing. “With this new release, we thought we’d journey inside the iconic mountain cabin to see where our snowshoer puts his heels up. It’s our tribute to a special time of year in Colorado where we all look forward to moments of relaxation by the fire.”
Settle Down Brown is an American-style brown ale with a delightfully complex malt backbone and a hoppy kick reminiscent of pineapple, coconut and pine.
Coming in at 6.5%, Settle Down Brown will be available in 12-pack cans and 6-pack bottles across Odell’s 15-state distribution footprint.

Odell Fee Fi Fo Fum Triple IPA
Press Release
Fort Collins, CO. - Odell Brewing has released it’s latest Cellar Series, an 11.1% ABV triple IPA, Fee Fi Fo Fum. This marks the second Cellar Series release in the new single 12oz bottle offering.
For years, Odell Brewing has focused on developing innovative, hop forward beers. Beginning with Odell IPA in 2007, Myrcenary Double IPA, Drumroll APA, and most recently Rupture Fresh Grind Ale.
“We were excited to brew an unapologetically big beer. The Triple IPA is an exciting style and the 12oz single bottle felt like the right package,” explains Bill Beymer, Brewing Manager. “The real trick is finding the balance between the higher malt bill and the hop bitterness and aroma. We’re really looking forward to sharing this one with our fans.”
Fee Fi Fo Fum is a giant of a Triple IPA, brewed with a colossal amount of American hop varieties including Chinook, Azacca, and Mosaic. With a full body and notes of sticky pine, tropical fruit, and citrus, this triple packs a resinous hop punch.
“This is the perfect time of year to release a Triple IPA,” notes Beymer. “Our brewers had free reign to select some of the freshest and most exciting hops from our 2017 harvest.”
Coming in at 11.1%, Fee Fi Fo Fum will be available as a single 12oz bottle across Odell’s 15-state distribution footprint.
