‘Pregnant’ you think to yourself as you’re sitting on the bathroom floor with a smile on your face. Thor’s coming home tonight. He doesn’t know about it yet. He woke up very early this morning. Loki’s missing again, so he went out to look for his little brother.
You two were trying for a baby for a long time. You didn’t get the chance until now.
You: |thinking|’ How am I gonna tell him that we are gonna have a baby?’
As the day goes, you tell this amazing news only to Nat and Wanda. They cheered about it and were asking a lot of questions about it with huge smiles glued to their faces.
Wanda:,, So is it a girl or a boy?’’
Nat:,, And what about its name?’’
You:,, Girls I don’t know yet.’’|little laugh|,, But if it’s gonna be a boy, it will probably be Thor junior and if its gonna be a girl, then Frigga.’’|smile|.
Both of them:,, Aww.’’
Wanda:,, Wait... what if you have two of them? Twins, you know?’’
You:,, Then we will have more work to do.’’
You all laughed about it and made jokes about what will be Thor’s expression when you tell him. Then you went out to buy some things for tonight, because you got an amazing idea about how to tell Thor about the baby.
That night around 7 o’clock, when Thor came home you were sitting on a bed with a little box in front of you. He walked into your shared room and dressed into something more comfortable than his armor.
Thor:,, Hello, my love. How was your day?’’|smiles at you|.
You:,, Hi babe. Oh you know it was a normal day. But I want to show you something. Come here.’’|smile|.
He sat on the bed in front of you and the box.
Thor: |confused|,, What is in this box?’’
You:,, Look for yourself.’’
You couldn’t help, but smile at his confusion. He opened the box and took out a little teddy bear in a dress that said ‘Can’t wait to meet you’. He smiled at it, probably thinking that it’s gonna be his teddy bear. Then he pulled even smaller box, opened it and took the pregnancy test out. Thor looked at it for a second, then at you with an open mouth and shocked expression.
Thor:,, Are- are you..’’
You started nodding, while tears started running down your cheeks. He hugged you immediately with a huge smile on his face. Then he looked at you with teary eyes.
Thor:,, I’m gonna be a dad. |screaming| I’M GONNA BE A DAD EVERYBODY!’’
Everybody came into the room with shocked faces. Nat and Wanda were the only ones that were smiling, even tho they had happy tears in their eyes. Thor told everybody again. They all hugged you two. Happy to see you two starting a family.

A/N: This was actually posted on my teen wolf blog but I loved the story so much that I adapted it to Thor because I felt like it would fit really well. Don’t worry, the final chapter is already written and queued up for next week so you don’t have to wait a million years for me to post again lmao. I hope you like it!

“Came to you with a broken faith,
Gave me more than a hand to hold
Caught before I hit the ground
Tell me I’m safe, you’ve got me now
…
Could you take care of a broken soul?
Oh, will you hold me now?
Oh, will you take me home?”
Next Chapter
Another night of getting shitfaced and absently fucking some already forgotten person. Another night of pretending my life isn’t spiraling out of control. Another night of pretending I’m not a complete failure while all my friends are out graduating college, getting married, having families and living their dreams. Another night of temporarily drugging my demons and pretending I don’t hear them scream. Another night of struggling to hold my head above the water; it’s another night of failing to pretend my problems away.
Every voice around me is muffled. The party shows no signs of ending soon. People are attached by the face and hip in every corner; I’d see more modesty in a brothel. Navigating the sea of alcoholic debauchery, I manage to find my way to the front porch. The cold air bathes my overheated skin and for one small moment, I can breathe. I lift my thick curly hair from the nape of my neck and close my eyes to savor the fleeting peace. Opening my eyes, I fumble in my jeans pocket for my phone. It’s 2:48am. I can barely focus. With nothing but sheer drunken will, I locate the one name I’m always looking for. Thor Blake. Sleep is beginning to overtake me; my eyelids have never felt so heavy. Pressing the call button, I bring the phone to my ear. It rings twice before a sleepy voice picks up.
“Hello?” How does one person bring me so much comfort? Even in my drunken stupor, his voice resonates in my soul. Thor is home.
“I need you,” I whisper. The scent of rain fills the air and the wind blows in warning.
“Where are you?” He’s completely awake now. I can actually hear him rushing out of bed to put on pants. His keys jingle softly in the background. He’s coming.
“Strange’s. There was a party. I don’t want to be here anymore. Please.” My throat constricts and my chest fills with an aching emptiness I might never be able to fill.
“I’ll be there in 15 minutes.” The line goes dead and a sigh of relief escapes my weary body. Sinking onto the porch bench, the party rages loudly in the house behind me. I look up at the moon with sleep laden eyes; so full and beautiful.
Lying down, I try to take small comfort in knowing I’ll see him again.
It’s been 3 years since I broke up with him. It was the worst decision I ever made, but I did it for him. It killed me every day. He deserved better than me; the broken girl with no idea how to make her dreams come true. Eventually he started dating again. Jane seemed like the best thing that ever happened to him…until she died. I saw him at the funeral. I’ve only ever seen that look of despair on his face once, the night I stupidly shattered his heart because I was afraid he’d leave me. It was the worst decision I ever made, but I thought I was doing it for him.
I don’t remember calling him. I don’t remember passing out on that uncomfortable rickety bench. I don’t remember Thor picking me up, kissing my forehead and tucking me into the front seat of his car. I don’t remember making him pull over and vomiting on the side of the road. I don’t remember him making me drinking my favorite Gatorade to keep me from getting too dehydrated. I don’t remember him carrying me to his shower and helping me wash the night away. I don’t remember him drying me off, dressing me and tucking me into his bed. I don’t remember him whispering “you’re safe now” into my ear as I fell asleep in a bed full of heartbreaking memories. But he does.
I’ll never forget the haunted yearning look on Thor’s face when I woke up the next morning. He must have been watching me from the doorway as I slept. His side of the bed was bereft with cold; I was alone last night. I’m not surprised at all. Sitting upright, my hangover bitch-slapped me. I groaned and clutched my head in my hands.
“There’s aspirin on the nightstand.” His voice, normally filled with sunshine and love, was devoid of emotion. I looked up. Gone was that desperate look; he wore his stoic mask beautifully. The ache in my chest hurt more than any hangover ever could. I missed him.
“Thor? How did I-?”
“You called me last night drunk off your ass. I found you passed out on the bench in front of Strange’s house. What if something had happened to you? What the fuck were you thinking!?”
His anger was majestic. The way his cheeks flushed with red made the blue of his eyes stand out strikingly. If I squinted, I could almost see steam coming out of his ears. I didn’t even care that he was yelling at me just as long as he kept talking to me. I missed him. I winced as his voice gained another octave. He noticed. Looking at me sheepishly, he sat on the farthest corner of the bed from me. That haunted look was back. Another knife sliced my chest as the weight of breaking his heart settled over me. There seemed to be no mercy from the consequences of my actions.
“I’m sorry.” The simple fact that he felt he had to apologize to me spoke volumes. I’ve never met anyone with a greater capacity for love.
“Please don’t. You didn’t do anything wrong. You’re right; it was foolish of me to get wasted like that. Thank you for coming to get me.” Something shifted in Thor. His mask of stoicism slid back into place and he stood up. Turning his back to me, he headed towards the master bathroom.
“I have to get ready for work. You can stay here if you wish; your clothes are on top of the dryer.” He closed the door behind him and I hugged my knees to my chest.
Gathering my strength, I pulled the comforter from my body. Looking down I was surprised to find he’d dressed me in my favorite red shirt of his. I couldn’t believe he kept it. The cotton fabric felt so soft against my body; a thousand tender kisses and feather-light touches caressed my brown skin. The sound of the water running graced my ears and I headed towards the bathroom. Not stopping to consider the consequences or the high possibility of his rejection, I walked in.
Thor didn’t notice I was there until I’d stripped, stepped into the shower and wrapped my arms around his waist. For a fleeting moment he allowed himself to relax into me. For a fleeting moment, we were us again. I missed him. Detangling himself from my grip, he turned around to face me. Tension hung thickly in the air as neither of us said anything. Water gently poured down this face; he was beautiful. His gaze swept my body and he sighed heavily. Before I had the chance to react, his lips were pressed firmly against mine and his hands were tangled in my hair. Heaven: that was the only way to describe how it felt to kiss him again. He was still my home. I bit his bottom lip and he moaned into my mouth. Moving his hands from my hair to the back of my legs, he picked me up and locked my ankles behind his back. Only Thor could make my body burn this way. I gasped as he slid himself into me, filling me perfectly. His lips moved to my neck where he sank his teeth into my skin. God, he felt so good. He pinned me against the shower wall and we rocked into each other. The hot water only fueled our anguished desire. With every thrust, kiss, bite, and moan we poured ourselves into each other. Sex with Thor was always intense but this was something else entirely. It was like everything we couldn’t say had somehow been unleashed. Every sorrow, wish, hope and love filled us both. He pulled away and met my gaze.
“I love you.”
I wasn’t sure who said it but in this moment it didn’t matter. We both felt it. I clutched him tightly as a furious orgasm tore through my body. His thrusts lost their rhythm as he emptied himself into me. We were connected by something more powerful than either of us could understand. This was more than lust, more than love. With one last kiss, he pulled himself out of me. The empty feeling made me ache to have back immediately. He handed me the bottle of soap and turned away. We showered in silence. The weight of our broken hearts weighed heavily in the air.
He didn’t look at me as we dried off and dressed. He actually went out of his way to avoid my gaze. I don’t know what hurt more: him ignoring me or knowing that I deserved it. Thor tossed me another one on his tee shirts, grabbed his camera bag and headed for the door. He turned back and paused momentarily.
“I’ll be home at 7pm. Your key is still on the hook by the front door.” Without another word, he hoisted has bag onto his shoulder and left. The slam of the front door reverberated through the apartment and I was alone again. I crawled back into his bed, my hangover a distant memory.
“What do you mean she’s at your apartment right now?” asked a very confused Darcy Lewis.
Thor was currently sitting at a bar with two of his closest friends, trying to figure out what exactly do with the fact that you were back in his life. He was suddenly glad he didn’t tell them he fucked you in his shower.
“Okay, what is the point of her?” he asked. He rolled his eyes at his annoying friend and took another swig from his beer.
“She makes a good point, Thor…why is she in your apartment?” Brunnhilde questioned. The bar they were sitting at suddenly felt stifling. Feeling claustrophobic, he downed the last of his beer and sighed heavily. He’d always hated alcohol but, in moments like these, he could understand why his father drank himself half to death.
“I couldn’t bear to see her leave just yet,” he whispered. Thor was at war with himself. He shouldn’t have kissed you. Kissing you again awakened a part of his soul he fought so hard to bury. It might shatter him if you left again…when you left again. He shouldn’t have had sex with you in his shower. Getting to lose himself in you even just for a little while soothed his aching heart that always seemed to miss you. It might shatter him if you left again…when you left again. He shouldn’t have let you stay. Seeing your face in his apartment again made it feel so much more like a home. The realization that you thought he turn his back on you after screwing you in the shower this morning sucker punched him. He shouldn’t have left you alone.
Even though last night was the first time he’d seen you in a long time, he knew you were struggling. When you lost your mother last year, he went to the funeral. You were the only one standing there as they lowered her into the ground. You didn’t cry. He studied you from a distance as you stood in silence while watching her grave be filled. When it was done you walked away, downing a flask. He meant to go up to you then, but he wasn’t sure you’d want to see him. He was the only one who knew how abusive your mother had been to you. She was an angry, bitter woman who lashed out at everyone. When her illness finally took her, you were the only one who seemed to care. He loved you for it.
As the months went by, it became harder and harder to pick up the phone and dial your number. He’d heard from your mutual friends that you’d taken to partying heavily. He was terrified of receiving that phone call that said you shared you mother’s fate. After Jane, he couldn’t bear to lose another person he loved. When you called last night, he was so relieved to hear your voice. You were his home. He shouldn’t have left you alone.
“What are you going to do now?” asked Brunnhilde
“I wish I knew.” Darcy and Brunnhilde nodded in understanding. They knew you were more than just an ex for Thor. You were, and still are, the love of his life. Thor flagged down the bartender to pay his tab. He had to face you sometime.
“Alright ladies, I should be getting back. Thanks for this.”
“Anytime, buddy. You know that.” Brunnhilde pulled him in for a hug and Darcy patted his shoulder in encouragement. Grabbing his things, he headed to his car.
“Are you sure we shouldn’t follow him? They could kill each other,” Darcy told Brunnhilde.
You didn't feel anything. Numbness was now your best friend as it was the only thing stopping the tears from tumbling down your cheeks in violent bursts. It was too late to change your mind now, your people needed this union. This union would ensure their safety and ensure that you had somewhere to go afterwards. If you had even considered backing out now, you knew that you would no longer be welcomed at your old home. They neither wanted nor needed you.
The maids had awoken you earlier in the morning than usual. There was no need for breakfast as there would be a feast after the union that could feed thousands of men. Despite it being so early in the morning, you could still hear the townspeople celebrating. They filled the streets with banners, cheering joyously. You wondered if they had any joy left spare that you could borrow for the ceremony. Painting on a smile and falsifying happiness hadn't been hard over the past week, but now it seemed more difficult than ever. The darkness that had been looming was now clinging to you as you stood silently in your chambers. The maids were still rushing around, preparing everything for you. They were speaking both to one another and to you, informing you of what they were doing, but you were too preoccupied to listen. Their words had become nothing more than blurs around you.
Despite your dampened mood, you had to admit that the wedding gown that had been personally made was beautiful, beyond words... It was floor length, the pure white material pillowing around you and fluffed out. The top bodice was a corset and pulled tight around your abdomen, though the tightness did not bother you. It was embellished with golden detailing, the sweetheart top connected to the collar like material around your neck, which stretched out over your shoulders, a golden gem holding the collar together in the centre and hanging down against the top of your collar bones. The collar too was embellished around the edges with golden weaving, the details sewn so finely that only thin slivers of white were visible. your hair was pulled back the top half pinned in place at the back whilst the rest hung long down your back. Your hair had always been naturally long and it reached just above your rear. A silver circlet had been laid on your head delicately.
The maids had left you alone at some point, and you didn't move. You didn't dare look out at the thousands of people who had lined the streets ready to celebrate with you. You wanted time to stop, for the people to stop rushing around and for the celebrations to be paused. Your eyes ventured around the room that you had become so attached to. Even though it had only been a few days, this room had been more of a home to you that your Kingdom ever had been. It would only be a few hours until you were no longer in this room, this was probably the last time you would ever be in this room, the maids would be shifting your things to Thor's room during the ceremony.
Sharing a room.
You hadn't even considered thinking about that, knowing that it would only make everything scarier. If the two of you couldn't even look at each other or begin to conversate between you then how on earth would you be able to share a bed? To lie beside one another as man and wife? How would you consummate a marriage that neither of you wanted? How could you produce an heir for the man who wouldn't speak to you? Your eyes wandered over your reflection in the mirror you had been stood in front of. You knew that life wouldn't be easy on you. Your parents had raised you for this exact moment. They hadn't raised you to be the independent ruler your sister would become, no. You had made the choice to be independent, but that hadn't stopped your parents from teaching you to be submissive to the man you would marry. You never wanted any of this, but your fate had been decided to you before you had even been born. A part of you was thankful that you had not been promised to an elder man who would only use you for one thing, but another part of you wished that maybe you could have been promised to another man. At the very least, a man who could stand the sight of you.
You wanted to believe Frigga's words, that Thor was just stubborn and that he would eventually come around to the idea of being married to you. You hoped that he would at least lighten up a bit once the handfasting ceremony had finished. But despite having had the reassurance from your future mother-in-law, the nagging in the pit of your stomach hadn't disappeared. Your mind was clouded over at the thought of your darkened future with Thor. If he wasn't willing to give you a chance then how could you even begin to be happy in this impending union?
You would not cry. You had wasted enough tears over this marriage and you could not bear the thought of walking out in front of all those people and allowing them to see you in your weakest state. If you could not be strong for yourself, then you would be strong for your people. They were good people and this marriage would truly help them live longer and happier lives, even if you would never see them again. You would be strong for Queen Frigga and King Odin, they were giving away their eldest son. The chances of Loki ever finding a wife, due to everyone's judgement on his previous crimes and in all honesty, you knew that Loki wasn't really interested in becoming a husband. He just wanted to go about his days freely. So in some respects, this would possibly be the only chance that Queen Frigga and King Odin would have at seeing one of their children marry. Before you could continue to wallow in your sadness any longer, your eyes darted to the doorway where one of the maids now stood. This was the moment you had been preparing for, this was the moment you had spend the past week dreading. Any possible escape routes you could have planned were now thrown out of the window and landing on the thousands of people below.

You had never imagined yourself to be stood before the King, Queen of Asgard and their two sons. Nor had you imagined the reason you would be stood before them. Just like the Prince in question, you hadn’t been given a choice in the matter, to refuse the Prince’s hand would cause you more trouble than it was worth. Being the Princess of your realm would no longer be an option, you would become an outsider, a stranger in your own home, a disgrace upon your family’s name, and would no longer hold the title that you had held for years. Refusing was not an option.
Unlike you, your parents had been thrilled to hand you over to the Prince. They had been overjoyed that the King had agreed for you and his son to be married, to be the bearer of his son’s children. At least that was what they wanted everyone to know. You knew that a small part of your parents' minds were pleased to be rid of you. Your parents had never been as fond of you as they had your sister, and they had spoken of marrying you off from a young age. You knew that if the Prince hadn’t requested your hand, then your parents would have offered it to another man in any realm, and he would probably not hold the title that this Prince did.
But even so, this wasn’t what you wanted.
Your parents stood beside you, their eyes dancing around the throne room, as they put on a beaming smile each. The Queen stood near her sons, a smile painted on her own lips. It was sad to think that her smile was genuine compared to the smiles that your parents had painted on their faces. You knew that your parents had been hoping to simply drop you off at the palace gates and remove you from their lives as soon as possible, and the fact that they were now stood beside you was somewhat annoying the pair of them. Your eyes had stayed cast against the floor, not moving as King Odin stood from his seat and stepped down to stand before the three of you, his wife close beside him.
“King Marcellus, Queen Ramona,” King Odin nodded his head to your parents, who nodded back respectfully.
“Allfather.” they chorused. “And Queen Frigga. It’s an honour to meet with you both.” your mother rambled, before silencing as your father nudged her gently.
“The honour is ours, we welcome you to our home.” Frigga greeted.
“And Princess Y/n.” your gaze raised from the ground at the mention of your name. A soft and false smile moved across your lips, though your smile was different from the fake one that your parents had placed forwards, it was fake all the same.
“Allfather, Queen Frigga.” a gentle bow of your head brought a small smile to each of their lips, as your parents shuffled impatiently.
At some point, you had stopped paying attention as your parents discussed the details, your eyes returning to the incredibly interesting design on the flooring. Your fingers absent-mindedly fiddling with the material of your violet dress. Your head did not lift, but your mind was pulled back to the conversation, hearing a few things being passed between the four royals.
“The engagement party will be at the end of the week. And the handfasting in a weeks time.” Frigga explained. “You are welcome to stay until then, rather than returning for the occasion. ”
“I’m afraid that won’t be possible.” your father responded. “And we, unfortunately, will not be able to attend the handfasting ceremony. Our minds are preoccupied elsewhere at the moment, our kingdom was recently under attack, and we are working on restoring it to its natural glory.” it was exactly the response you had been expecting. It seemed to shock Frigga slightly, but she didn’t allow it to show clearly on her face. Odin, on the other hand, moved his gaze to rest upon your father’s, almost questioning his response. You knew that the excuse was a lie, well not fully, but mostly. Your kingdom had been under attack, but the damage had been minor and everything had already been restored. You wondered silently if Odin knew this, and that was why he silently questioned your parents.
“Very well.” your parents nodded. “We must be returning, and once again we cannot tell you how delighted we are with this engagement. Thank you for inviting us, Allfather. Queen Frigga.” Odin and Frigga said their goodbyes and your parents were quickly led out of sight, you glanced at them once before they disappeared entirely, knowing that it was likely to be one of the last times you ever saw them. Not that you were overly upset with the matter, but you were not joyed with the idea either.
“Thor, it would be wise for you to show Princess Y/n to her room.” Thor nodded to his father, keeping a stiff figure as he moved towards you, stopping a few feet away.
“This way, Lady Y/n.” he turned and moved out of the room, you quickened your steps to keep up with the larger man. In comparison to your future husband you were tiny, his height towered over you, and his figure was of an impressive size, whilst you stood very petite beside him. If he were to stand in front of you, you would have been invisible to anyone around. Complete opposites, and soon you were to be bound as one.
Prince Thor pushed open a set of doors, which led into your room. It was incredibly large, an ensuite bathroom, a large four poster bed, which was covered with a red silk sheet, four posts sticking up in each corner. There was another door which led to the wardrobe, and a balcony on the far side of the room, which looked over Asgard, showing the realm off in all its finery.
“The maids brought your things up, though I wouldn’t get too comfortable,” Thor explained, keeping his gaze away from you. “You’ll be moved into my chambers after the handfasting,” he spoke with some level of spite and anger in his voice. You watched him closely as he spoke, his eyes held a similar anger to his voice, and it was adding tension to the air around you. “I’ll leave you now.” he turned and practically ran from the room.
Your betrothed couldn’t even look at you. A single tear trailed down your cheek as the door softly shut behind him.

The ride to the town was short, and as soon as you reached the town, the people instantly emerged from their homes to greet you, whether they waved or cheered, they were all seemingly excited. You dismounted your horse as you reached the art shop. Like Loki had described, it was small but had supplies of good quality. A small, old man ran the store and greeted you as you entered with a gentle smile.
"Your Highness, my Lady." you bowed your head whilst Loki nodded in acknowledgement. "How may I be of assistance?"
"Lady Y/n happens to be an artist herself. So anything she wants, have it packaged up." the man nodded softly, and waited patiently for you to look around. But you stood for a moment, looking to Loki.
"But, I don't have any-" Loki was quick to cut you off.
"You're part of the royal family now. Anything you want, we'll pay for." he gave a brief smile. "Mother insisted that we make you feel welcome, and you are." you were silent. "So, shall we?" your cheeks blushed a little as you began to make your way around the shop.
As you gradually moved around the shop, not only did your eyes wander over the supplies but they noticed the price tags too. And though you tried to ignore the bigger priced items, like canvases and easels and the finely bound sketchbook, Loki seemed to notice the wonder in your eyes as they glanced past and had the man package them anyway. Each time you tried to argue but were instantly cut off by the expression he sent you, with one eyebrow raised as if challenging you to try and argue with him on the matter. You knew that he was certain he could win and you had no doubt in your mind that he would.
At first, as you moved over to the till with everything that had been packaged, you wondered how you were going to get the stuff back. It was surely too much for your horses to carry, and you were beginning to regret your decision against a carriage. But as Loki paid, two of the guards from the castle walked into the shop, and it was clear that Loki had told them in advance to come down, as they picked up the items and were on their way.
"You seem troubled." Loki decided as you made your way out of the shop, and stood by your horses.
"I just," you paused. "I'm not entirely comfortable with you spending your money on me," you explained. "I would have been more than happy to earn some money of my own and buy them myself."
"Did you honestly think we'd make you work for money? You're marrying my brother, you are part of our family now," Loki argued. "What's ours is yours." you seemed ready to make a counter-argument, but Loki wasn't going to allow it. "Did you really think we'd simply let you get married then forget of your existence? You need something to occupy your mind rather than simply walking around the gardens. You can only do it so many times before you've memorised every plant." you nodded sheepishly, knowing that you were not going to win this argument either. Although you knew on some level that what he was saying was true, it still made you uncomfortable to think that they were spending money on you. Especially when their son seemed to detest your existence.
Deciding not to head back to the palace so quickly, the pair of you wandered through the town, greeting those who greeted you and smiling gently at the small children running around one of the large fountains in the centre of the town.
"Do you come down here often?" you pondered as you glanced around.
"Not as often as I used to," Loki admitted. "It seems that the people are only just forgiving me for my crimes." he paused for a moment. "Though some are still cautious, many are choosing to forgive and forget."
"People always forgive, some just take more than others." he nodded. Loki was about to respond, but both of your heads turned at the sound of shouting, which had ruined the peaceful atmosphere. Just across from you stood a young girl, no older than six, long dark brown hair falling to her waist. A man stood tall over her, and from what you could tell, he was her father, their features were very similar, almost entirely identical. Her head was bowed to the floor, as her father shouted angrily. You watched silently, not really listening to what he was saying, but paying more attention to how his anger continued to increase.
Your eyes only caught a glimpse of his arm raising before you rushed over and pushed yourself in front of the girl, falling to the ground as his fist connected with the side of your face. For a brief second the man didn't seem to realise what he had done, but then it became evident that he knew who you were. He had just hit his future Queen. Pushing yourself up, the little girl cowered behind you. You could feel the unfamiliar drip from the split in your cheek, it was definitely bleeding and it would surely bruise. You held your stance as you stood before him, ignoring the throbbing in your cheek and the sound of the townspeople whispering amongst themselves.
"How dare you raise your hand to her. She is a child," you gritted between your teeth. The man gulped and stuttered for words. "I know it's not the first time, but," you paused. "Be sure that the next time you raise your hand to her, it will be the last time you have hands." the man nodded, clearly finding some form of fear in your words.
You turned around and crouched in front of the little girl, who was still shaking in fear of her father.
"Thank you," you were slightly shocked as her arms wrapped around your neck, hugging you tightly.
"It's nothing," you assured. "No child should be afraid of their father," you paused sending a glare to the man, who was now filled with fear himself. "He will not harm you again." you parted with the young girl and began to walk back over to Loki and your horse, ignoring the people as they began to slowly separate around you. Loki was quick to gently prod your cheek, wiping the blood on his sleeve.
"Are you alright? You're bleeding." you flinched away from his fingers. "That was incredibly dangerous, you could have been more seriously hurt."
"If you don't agree with my actions then maybe you should head back to the palace and I'll see you at dinner-"
"No, no, no," Loki cut you off. "You misunderstand. I said it was dangerous. I didn't say it was wrong." you're tense form calmed slightly. "In fact it was an incredibly brave act, to stand up to her father like that. Even if you didn't come out of it unscathed," he concluded, a small smirk on his lips. "Although it's going to be horrendous explaining this to mother and father." you chuckled under your breath softly as you both remounted your horses.
And for the first time in days, Thor was not on your mind.

You can't raise hell with a saint
Young blood, came to start a riot
Don't care what your old man say”

“If you would like to eat, breakfast will be served promptly at 8:30 am. Sleepwear will not be acceptable as per the Lady of the House’s requests. If you are late will you not be permitted access,” stated an overly monotone voice on the house speaker system. Charlie groaned inwardly. She did not miss Hattie Mae’s (mandatory) weekly breakfasts.
Thor had already fallen back to sleep once he made sure Charlie had calmed down from her nightmare. It saddened him to see they seemed to be a nightly recurrence again since her return to her family home. The sound of a posh voice echoing in the room startled him awake.
“Wha? What’s happening?” he popped up, immediately turning to face Charlie, “Are you okay?”
Charlie giggled and kissed his nose to reassure him, “I’m fine, Thor. I think in the madness of it all I forgot to warn you about the house speakers. I’m so sorry.”
“S’fine love, no worries.” Thor was already half snoring before his head hit the pillow again.
“Does this mean you don’t want the signature Bailey Blueberry Pancakes for breakfast?” she asked.
“On second thought,” he replied while pulling himself into a sitting position, “Breakfast sounds delightful.”
Hattie could barely contain the glee from her face as everyone sat around the table. Her husband Robert bristled as soon as he set foot in the dining room; he’d spent far too many years cleaning up after the mess of his duplicitous wife. Enough was enough.
“Whatever you’re thinking, Henrietta Mae, don’t. I’m too old and too tired to deal with your foolishness today. Let us have a meal in peace, woman,” he demanded under his breath..
“Why husband, you’re in a foul mood today,” she sneered, “Wake up on the wrong side of the bed, darling?”
“It’s not like you’d know. We haven’t shared a bed in over 30 years,” he snapped back.
“Does that mean you miss me?”
“Like a slave misses his master’s whip.”
“You’re in rare form today, Robert. You’d better watch that mouth of yours before it gets you in trouble….wouldn’t want to get that blood pressure up now, would you?”
“The only thing that gets my blood pressure up these days is you, Henrietta. Why I ever married you is a complete mystery to me.” The brief look of hurt that crossed Hattie’s face made Robert instantly regret his words. He alone knew why they no longer shared a bed.
“The only mistake made was me putting my faith and trust in you, husband. Unlike you, I’ve never broken my vows,” she hissed through clenched teeth. Robert flinched at her barely tempered fury. Holding his hands up in defeat, he nodded his head in surrender.
“I’m sorry.”
“You say that like it means something.” Hattie released a breath she didn’t even realize she’d been holding as a servant came to deliver their food. As she glanced around the now full table, a devious grin graced her face. It was time.
“Good morning everyone! I trust you slept well?” she asked. Scarlett’s eyes widened briefly in terror. She new that look on her grandmother’s face all too well. Clutching Thor’s hand under the table in fear, she braced herself for the impending hell about to be unleashed.
