Ô-yoroi (ancient armor) inspired modern obi belt, handmade by Shabon.
Part of the ô-yoroi was lamellar armor, made from kozane (individual scales) intricately woven with colorful kumihimo (braided cords) or kawahimo (leather straps) to form kozaneita (small plates):
When assembled vertically, kozaneita would form bigger plates called odoshi, used for different armor parts. The braiding process formed intricated decors:
