on one hand i'm sad that hamilton became a kinda 'cringy' interest that people seem to hate on to be cool cause it's a really beautiful and interesting musical which deals/reclaims with history and politics in an interesting and new way, with a talented, diverse cast and some really poignant messages for today's political situation.

on the other hand i just saw someone headcanon thomas jefferson as a bisexual trans college student and i don't know how to cope with that.

#just to make it clear: I love Hamilton the musical still and I'm not ashamed #and I get there is a musical/history divide #and I'm a history student who does a lot of social shit so these real people had weird and different morality systems #but Jefferson owned slaves #and that is a line #of evil #where you don't make cutesy characters out of them please #like I loved how history became a big topic around Hamilton and how people saw it #then it got tumblrised into 'everyone bad everything about story bad'#and that's sad cause it's complex and interesting #but goddamn it I get it cause some people have no critical outlook #I can enjoy shit and be critical of it #and Hamilton ain't a thing where you can 'loveeee characters'#cause they were often shitty and always complicated people in real life #I'm on so much fuckig cold medicine rn #good night rant over
