((from @auroralarienphoenix to protect hook because lets be honest she really really likes him))
Aurora had wanted nothing more than to be free from her birthright after her parents had passed and those of the court wanted her head on a silver platter. Somehow she had found her way onto a very particular pirate ship with a very noteworthy captain. In order to earn her place on that ship she did the only thing she could think of which was to offer her return and reward him with what ever he wished. But of course things had changed and she’d been dragged along for a wild ride so to speak. With a cold and untrusting heart Aurora kept her guard up around the whole crew Killian included. But he was interesting to her, with tales of travels to place she’d only dreamed of going. And of the magic each one held. Little by little she found herself falling more and more for the Captain.
Time would pass and soon Aurora would be using her own skills to help Hook in whatever plan he had. Even the one that would mean a fatal end for him had she not jumped in the path. But it was as if their attacker would know that she’d protect the Captain with her own life. Not only that but they had used the one thing that could affect both vampires and werewolves alike. Pure silver bullets, hard to make and even harder to fire unless magic was involved to enchant the bullets to keep their form until they hit the body of a vampire or werewolf.
Unlucky for her for sure as she dove in front of Hook shouting that he get down only to be hit instead. The force of the impact had her turning some before dropping to the ground a hand quickly going to her shoulder groaning and growling in pain. “Shit…” It wasn’t like the princess to speak like this but that mattered little when silver threatened to course its way through her body. Even though the bullet hadn’t hit anything vital Aurora began breathing heavily and raggedly. “K-Killian…” His name rolling off her tongue as did the blood that had bubbled up her throat making it even harder to breath.
When she had come to him, it had been true that he’d only cared for the riches and specialties she could lead him to. Over time though, he’d found himself growing far more fond of the Princess. She had a fire to her that Killian could certainly appreciate.
This particular adventure had fallen almost too perfectly into their laps though. He’d been approached in the tavern that they’d been enjoying an evening in while in port for ‘supplies’. The Captain was more than accustomed to dealing with shady sorts, so when one such sorts came up to him offering him a chance at treasure and forbidden magic, he’d entertained the fellow.
Right now though, now… he very much wished he hadn’t.
Making short work of the brigand that had fired the ill fated shot, Killian turned on his heal and fell to his knees beside her. Clearly she wasn’t doing well, but he couldn’t figure out why. She’d only been hit in the shoulder, it shouldn’t have had this effect on her. “Shhh Princess… don’t move.”
Taking out his dagger, he cut the fabric away from the wound to get a better look. It looked… it looked like the bullet had been laced with some sort of poison from the way the area seemed to be uncharacteristically irritated for a gunshot wound. He couldn’t tell what sort of poison it was though. Was it some sort of plant? Magic? He had never seen anything like this before. He didn’t know that it was the silver of the bullet that had done this but then he also knew very little about such things. This was foreign to him.
“Aurora… I don’t recognize this. I can’t even see the bullet in there…” Why had she even done this? Why had she taken the bullet for him? It wasn’t as if he hadn’t been shot before, he could have weathered it just as he so many a storm in the past. This made no sense to him, none of it, but he did know that he felt a pull in his chest… a familiar and very painful one. “Stay with me Princess. I have to find someone that can fix this…”
Taking the fabric that he had cut away, he made a sloppy but mostly effective bandage for the wound before attempting to lift her from the ground. He had to get her back to the town at the very least. They hadn’t made it far though before the fit of coughing had begun and Killian could tell that she was fading fast. He was running out of time. Doing his best to run but not jostle her any more than he had to, he could finally see the town. They were almost there.
“Princess, just a little…” His words cut short as he looked down and realized that her eyes had gone dark and she wasn’t breathing. “Princess? AURORA!!!” Putting her down, he checked her over once more… her heart wasn’t beating either. She was already gone.
“Damn it all to hell!” he yelled into the night as he knelt over her, his hands curling into fists against her stomach. “Stupid girl… why did… I wasn’t worth you dying.”
And there in the cold of the evening, the Captain pressed his eyes closed and a single tear fell from his cheek and landed upon hers.
