I want to see Jamie Campbell Bower in Cyd Charisse’s green outfit from Singin’ in the Rain (1952). I just think he’d kill it.

18. What’s your biggest costuming pet peeve?

remember that scene in Bridgerton where Daphne is laced into a corset, only to then put on an empire-waist Regency-era dress, a garment that is FAMOUSLY loose around a woman’s entire midsection? I mean, do whatever you want with your loosely-inspired just-for-fun historical costuming, but for god’s sake don’t be wrong.

19. What is your costuming guilty pleasure?

I like to think of myself as a strong, independent artist, someone who doesn’t copy other people’s work but rather adapts and remixes it to suit herself….. except there are certain iconic looks and pieces that turn me straight into a god damn yellow-bellied copycat.

I wear scarves in my hair because of Eva Green in Cracks (2009). I saw Anya Taylor-Joy wearing a white leather trench coat in Last Night in Soho (2021) and now I want a white leather trench coat. I watched Blake Lively in A Simple Favor (2018) and emerged two hours later from a fugue state with six different resale sites open and a virtual shopping cart loaded with vintage Ralph Lauren.

oh, and my other favorite is when actors wear clothes from their own wardrobes. it’s the intimacy of it all, the tenderness of showing up on set exactly as you are.

It makes my heart feel a whole emotion to see precious old man Erik in his turtle neck knowing he’s still the most stylish person in every room. It’s my personal head canon that the older he grows, he becomes proportionally more of a mean queen. 🖤🧲

On a practical level, I make lists, use my google calendar heavily, and set lots of alarms. I externalize as much as possible instead of trying to keep up with it all mentally, because that way I get to spend my energy on doing the things instead of remembering that I need to do them.

On a more philosophical level, I prioritize pretty intensely. I don't guilt myself over anything that I have to drop to make sure my absolute priorities are tended to. And tbh I do magic about it. When stuff I can't otherwise control is getting in my way, I magic it right back out of my way.

I feel that I should also specify that I was not speaking about *you* in this rant, so much as discussing an issue that I see arising on tumblr often which linked back to what you had mentioned!

Either this arrived before the rant  was posted (Tumblr is just *that* special a website.) or I’ve completely missed said rant or seen it and nodded along in agreement then forgot  all about it. (Because I *am* that forgetful) Or lastly, I’ve not seen. But either way the sentiment is appreciated and  maybe a poke towards said rant to remind me will be wonderful.. <3 As I’ve always found your words to be incredibly insightful and well informed  even on subjects we may not agree on.

☕️ + holiday decorations?

I LOVE THEM, DO MORE

I mean I’m not fond of the big lawn inflatables, but colored lights? Giant spiders and cobwebs on your house? Backlit Nativity scenes?? *Mardi Gras beads draped on every single fence and tree city-wide*??? I love it. I love decorations; I love communal energy and excitement. 

The one thing I do not love is the corridor of American flags that sprout up along major streets all the got-dang summer (Memorial Day, Flag Day, July 4, Labor Day). That’s annoying and gross and tbh pretty disrespectful to the flag too.
