This one may have been professionally built, b/c I've never seen such a large kitchen with real cabinets in an earthship.

We've never seen a house quite like this 1991 off-the-grid cottage in Duck Creek Village, UT. 2bds, 1ba, $650k.

Look at the rooflines.

There's a lot going on in the living room. It's quite spacious and features birch trees. It's kind of whimsical.

We like the cheery spring green color. Even the log beams are painted.

This is fairytale-like. Look at the kitchen- there's a nice vintage stove- I wonder if it conveys. The decor is certainly maximalist.

Here we have a laundry room.

There are open wooden stairs in the living room that go up to the bedrooms and bath. It looks like they hastily added a makeshift railing with only 2 posts, though.

Wonder why they painted the tree trunks. They may have made a nice contrast. This room has a pitched ceiling but it's wide enough.

They do have a lot of lovely antiques.

This is the only bath and it's quite special.

Pending sale on this 200 sq ft off-grid cabin on Dirt Road (is that even a real street name?) in Yellville, AR, up in the Ozark Mountains. It's not the cabin that is listed for $155k that's the attraction, though, it's the multi-room cave system. There's an entrance to the cave on the left.

The cabin's kinda cute in a pioneer sort of way. Look at the antique stove.

I guess this is the heat source.

Has a separate bedroom.

Made with real tree trunks, probably from the property. (Don't look for a bathroom, though.)

It's got a spring with fresh water, but needs a well. And, it also needs a septic tank.

Completely off-the-grid 2010 Earthship in Tres Piedras, NM. 3bds, 2ba, 2,000 sq ft, $685k. It's one of the nicer ones I've seen, but I don't think I'd pay $685k to live in the desert.

All Earthships have to have a loggia with plants and this one's pretty nice. It's more like a sun room.

Very nice.

Pretty details. The colorful bottles look jewel-like.

Full kitchen. Look at the carvings on the wood.

Nice pattern in the floor.

Comfortable living room.

Very private bedrooms off the outer sun room.

I still don't get how these walls could be waterproof.

What is going on here? The listing says "new construction," but it's not finished. How could it be new const. when it was built in 2015? Located in Alpine, TX, the 2bd, 2ba, 2,700sqft home is constructed of lots of stones and glass bottles. It's called "Eco Ranch," and is on a "street" called Smiling Dog Trail. (Cute.) Asking $215k.

This must be the living room. There's an area for a heat stove. Look at the rocky terrain. That will rip up a mob in no time.

Don't know what the plan is here, b/c it's unfinished.

The front door area has a lovely picture window.

Entrance- look at the logs and the curved ceiling. I've never seen log wainscoting.
