Spacetime Soccer [Explained]
a basic primer on offsides, the way offsides are called is weirder
Genuinely can people explain to me what they find confusing about offsides? There are a lot of exceptions and such to remember but I've never found the base concept particularly confusing.
If someone could explain to me specifically what you find confusing, or what others find confusing about it, I'm trying to create an easy to understand guide for a technical writing assignment
Could you explain why the last “goal” that was made from US wasn’t actually a goal and got a flag? I keep seeing this happen during another game they had, I think it was the one before Canada? Like two times in a row, they scored but it gets flagged. Thanks so much 💖
Okay I am going to try my best to explain offsides, but it can be a difficult to understand and honestly took me FOREVER to get.
So the last goal didn't count because Carli was in front of the defender before the ball was put in play.
So she cannot cross the last defender until the ball is passed.
Carli Lloyd is A, the AUS defender is D. She cannot cross past the defender until P passes it into play, so yeah that's why it didn't count.
I hope this helped somewhat!
No one will tell me what an offside is help
to put it as simply as possible offsides is when a player crosses into the offensive zone before the puck.
Here’s a visual i just made, the letters A and B are players and the small dot is the puck. The context is that player A is passing the puck to/towards player B
This isn’t offsides
but this is offsides
