I was tagged by no one but have seen this on my dash like ten times, all ending with “I tag so-and-so and whoever else wants to do it I guess” so screw it, that’s enough of an invitation for me.
Peeta Mellark (The Hunger Games)- Hands down, easy choice for my number one favorite. I just adore everything about him.
Ron Weasley (Harry Potter)- I feel like my life can sort of be categorized by “which member of the trio was my favorite at the time” phases. For a huge part of my childhood it was Hermione, because she was the most relatable. Then when I first got into the fandom for real, it was Harry, because I really felt like he deserved more love than he was getting. And while I still do love both of them, now Ron is my favorite. I love his sense of humor. I love his bravery. I love his flaws. I just love him.
Mai (Avatar: The Last Airbender)- The actual best example I’ve ever seen as to how to develop a supporting character right. She doesn’t draw attention away from the main cast, it’s very subtle, but upon my many rewatches of this series I was able to catch all sorts of things I missed, and I love her more and more all the time.
Peggy Carter (The Marvel Cinematic Universe)- Such. A. Badass. I adore this woman. I was so excited when I heard she was getting her own spin-off series, and it didn’t disappoint.
Severus Snape (Harry Potter)- Easily the most problematic fave I’ve ever had. He’s an asshole. I fully admit it. But he’s a really, really interesting asshole, okay?
Simon Tam (Firefly)- Literally from the first episode I went “well I really like the doctor guy, he seems sweet.” And I just loved him more every single episode.
Ginny Weasley (Harry Potter)- OK, for a LONG time she was my favorite HP character. Then Deathly Hallows came out and Ron and Snape surpassed her by just a little. But I still just adore her. She’s such a badass. And funny. And talented. And well-rounded and three-dimensional and I just ADORE her.
Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games)- I feel like it would have been really easy for Suzanne Collins to make her Everyman protagonist total cardboard, but she didn’t. Katniss is so realistic, so well-developed, and absolutely fascinating.
Carol Peletier (The Walking Dead)- MY QUEEN. I feel guilty for her being so low on this list. I love a lot of characters, OK? I don’t know what to say about her that I haven’t said a hundred times in the past few months. She’s a survivor, a badass, loving, brave, and pretty much everything I love in a character.
Finnick Odair (The Hunger Games)- OK, so I read the entire Hunger Games trilogy in under 24 hours, and Catching Fire and Mockingjay back-to-back. I say this because I can’t really recall how I felt about him post-CF/pre-MJ. All I can say is that I never saw his backstory coming, but as soon as that scene occurred, it explained literally everything I’d been wondering about him. I love Finnick. I really, really do.
So those are my top ten favorite characters of all time. If you actually read all of that, thank you! I tag samcatthorne, allykat4416, oflovegoods, and, you know, anyone else who wants to do it can go for it.
