I have a few Roach & Frenchie stories ready to go for Roach Week! It's my first time taking part in a fanfic "event," and I'm excited. I'd had two of them already written before @dracothelizard announced this event, then added a third, so they weren't written with specific prompts in mind. As such, there will be a little prompt anarchy going on here! This one fits best with the Friday prompt, Allergies, but I'm posting it today because I guess I like being difficult, hehe.

"Food as Medicine" is part of my Cuddles and Comfort series, but if you're just here for Roach Week, it's not necessary to read the previous installment. The series is connected more by theme than plot, with each one featuring platonic affection between Frenchie and different members of the crew. It works just fine as a standalone!

The crew sets out to offer Roach and Frenchie the care they need. They're not quite sure what they're doing, but they hope they're on the right track.

We've passed the end of Roach Week a little, but today, we're adding in the other side of Saturday's prompt, Someone Makes a Meal for Roach!

This is the latest in my Someone to Watch Over Me sickfic series. If you're just here for Roach Week, the first two fics in the series aren't a prerequisite for reading this one. The first two Gentlebeard-focused storied are mostly separate in plot from the last two Roach & Frenchie-focused stories--the main connection is the same flu spreading around the ship. Despite having Frenchie's name in the title, I promise Roach is a co-lead in this fic!

It's a three-part story, so I'll post a new chapter each day for Roach Week. Here in chapter 1, we're kicking things off with the Tuesday prompt, Headache.

Now Roach has a cough, his voice is raspy, and he complains that he can’t smell anything, so how is he supposed to cook everything in time for tomorrow evening? “Wild suggestion,” Frenchie says as he watches Roach stir his pumpkin soup, wearing a purple bandana to keep his curls out of his face. “How about you don’t?” Frenchie needs all his sneakiness to convince his boyfriend that it's better to cancel on dinner with friends.

Notes:

This is the last story in my "Someone to Watch Over Me" sickfic series. I'd initially written Frenchie's story to be the last, but after I heard about the announcement for Roach Week, I decided to add this one, and I'm really happy I did! Because 1) Roach deserves softness and caretaking too, *obviously*, and 2) it rounds out the series as a whole. Before, Frenchie's story felt a little tacked-on after the Gentlebeard focus of the first two (just because I love writing about Frenchie.) Now, there's a nicer balance between the Ed/Stede first half and the Frenchie & Roach second half.

So thanks for organizing this event, @dracothelizard! It's been really fun to contribute, and I think "Someone to Watch Over Me" is better for it!

This multi-chapter fic will take us through the end of Roach Week, plus a little into next week, since it wound up being slightly longer than I'd planned. I'll post a new chapter daily. The story of course goes with Saturday's prompt, Someone Takes Care of Roach!
