“Oh, hi, buddy--” Tony was startled by the hug, but he was usually startled by outward shows of affection. He hugged Ed back, though, as he was glad to see him. He had to stand on his tip-toes to put his chin over Ed’s shoulder so he could hug him properly. “Hey, listen, you know what? Let me arrange for you and the missus-to-be to have a special date night. A restaurant all to yourselves, your choice. I’m sure planning a wedding has been stressful.” Not that he would know personally. But everybody always said so.

“You know, you don’t have to sit here with me, sir. I’m fine.” Of course Peter was glad that Jim was here with him, but he knew how busy Jim was. He had been a little surprised to see him here when he woke up in the first place. It had reminded him of all the times he’d been sick as a kid, and Jim had sat with him, patiently watching cartoons with him while he ate Cheerios because they were the only thing Peter could stomach. Even as a little boy Peter had valued the one-on-one time he had with his father. Each time his dad had showed up for visits when Peter was a kid had felt like a miniature Christmas morning. “I’m sure you have something better to -- ow.” He had tried to sit up, only for a sharp pain to lance through his temple. “Ouch. I’m okay.”

Peter gave a little sniff, unable to keep from laughing quietly at himself. He sounded and was acting like a child. “Sorry,” he said, sitting up and wiping away the tears on his cheeks with the heel of his hand. He wasn’t much of a crier, not even as a child. A part of him resented the loss of control that came with crying, and he was afraid of appearing weak. “I just...miss my family,” he said, with another little laugh as he shook his head. “They’re here, you know, but...they’re not here. My dad wouldn’t even...if I told him, he wouldn’t believe me.” He smiled crookedly. “Besides, you know, he already has a grown-up son with the GCPD. He has Dick. My role has been cast.” ​

Lucius looked up at him, a frown marring his features. He wasn’t entirely sure way Edward was concerned as to how he, Lucius, saw him. Shouldn’t he be concerned about his fiancee’s perceptions? “I may not know every side of you, but I should think I know more than the majority,” he said quietly. “I have seen you in a very raw, dark place, and I haven’t turned away from you.” He paused, considering his next words carefully. Especially since he had no idea where Dr. Thompkins was at the moment -- or how good her hearing was, for that matter. “But you’re still my friend,” he said. “I have no reason to change that view.”

“Baby...” Lois gave a little sigh, reaching up to run her fingers through Jordan’s curls. “You didn’t hurt me, okay? Listen to me.” She had to stand on tip-toe to be able to take Jordan’s face in her hands, but she managed it, trying to get him to meet her gaze. “There’s nothing you could do to hurt me, or disappoint me, or anything like that, alright?” she said. “You’re my son, and I love you. You’re a really great person.” She put herself higher on her toes to give his forehead a kiss. “A little help here, kid, huh?” she said lightly, as she could barely reach.

     @jaxstorm “Don’t get cocky now, I’m pretty sure that guy wasn’t alone” Damian lightly scolded the other. He was similar to Jason in some ways, which explained why the youngest Wayne found himself so easily irritated by him sometimes. “But I’m also sure we can take them, just gotta be strategic about it. Come on, we’ll get a better vantage point from up there” he explained, already beginning to climb, only slightly concerned as to whether he was following or not.
