something i want to touch more on regarding mack is that, despite not picking out the corpo lifepath for himself, he fully threw himself into it. everything he did working for arasaka, good or bad, is because he wanted to. once he's fully out of it and able to process what he did (for money and greed etc etc not because he was forced to but because he wanted to) it takes him quite a bit of time to forgive himself and accept that he might have been that person before but he's changed <3
