@ohfortunateone replied to your post “What's your take on Catholicism?”
This answer is kind of unhelpful for those who want to understand Catholicism. It sounds like you made works-based Christianity an appropriate thing.
So every time we talk about another denomination we have to bring up the point at which we disagree? You sound a little like the pharisees and disciples that were always prodding Jesus to condemn people for their sin.
The closer we get to Jesus and the Bible and to the presence of God the more our hearts and minds will be transformed and aligned to the truth. Yes, we disagree, but we're commanded to love people way more than we're commanded to excommunicate people.
Good doctrine is so important, but it's ultimately God that is judge. Let Him be true and every man a liar. Let's preach the truth about faith and works that is revealed in scripture. Let's preach the truth about baptism that Jesus taught. Let's preach what the Bible says about communion and prayer and confession. We don't even have to mention the people or worldview or denomination that we disagree with.
We've got to remember that if the only people that are getting to heaven are those that have perfect doctrine, we're all in trouble.
The question was about my take on Catholicism, and I think our primary response to Catholics should be love before anything else. If you want to have a conversation about our disagreements, have a Catholic over to your house for dinner.
Note: I feel strongly about this, but I'm still walking it out. All of my conversations are not in love. Christ is still working in me.
