@okaythenlove replied to your post “thank you so much for your oil painting tutorial ive been struggling...”
Eh? Which oil painting tutorial is this :-)?
It’ll be this one of Martin Freeman playing Richard III (since that’s the only oil painting tutorial I’ve done lol). You can check out the finished painting here :)
Hello! I know you said you didn't exactly want to go all beauty blog, but if you wouldn't mind, I would actually love to hear (read) about your beauty routine?? As for The Ordinary, I agree :-) I've only used their Niacinamide serum (???) and their Rosehip Seed Oil, but I do think their products are pretty awesome.
Sure, I will, since you asked for it! I’ll do it after a break, so people can ignore it if they want to.
If you used the Niacinamide, I take it you have an oily skin?
My current routine has one goal: hydration & reducing redness / improving skin texture due to sensitivity.
Morning routine:
Wash: Aloe calming foaming wash by The Body Shop (I do like and have repurchased this product, but I do think it might dry out my skin a little, so I am thinking about finding an alternative - if your skin is sensitive and on the oily side I recommend this though) OR Let the good times roll from Lush (I don’t use this every day due to the scrub: it’s gentle, but I still like to alternate these products)
Serums: Low-Molecular HA booster & sensitive fix booster from Hylamide (SO WORTH IT - these have made ALL the difference! If you want a cheaper hydration booster, you can opt for Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 from The Ordinary, but my dehydrated skin did notice the difference and I prefer the Hylamide one)
Moisturizer: Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA by The Ordinary (while the serum takes care of lower, middle and surface skin hydration, this will give me some extra surface hydration)
Evening routine:
Wash: if I wear makeup, I’ll do a double cleanse. I’ll use either Ultrabland by Lush OR Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil by The Body Shop to take the makeup off first. Then I’ll use the Aloe vera foaming wash again to clean off the residue.
Toner: Eau Roma Water by Lush
Serums: “Buffet” by The Ordinary. (this is anti-aging - I am starting to see lines around my eyes, shut up XD)
Moisturizer: 100% Plant-Derived Squalane (for hydration support) OR 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil (anti-aging) by The Ordinary OR Full of Grace (rosy goodness) by Lush if I want to treat myself
All these products are cruelty free and eco-friendly.
I think the most important thing is to figure out what you skin really needs. My skin is dehydrated beyond surface level, and the truth is that a ‘normal’ moisturizer will never be able to fix that. If you know what your skin needs, get into the science of it: a lot of products have nice buzz words and stuff, but if you know a little about the ingredients, you can see through the bullshit. Products with vitamin C, for instance, usually have such a low concentration, it won’t do anything at all to help the condition of your skin.
For me my skin care is also a real me-moment, so I enjoy the process - although it doesn’t have to take long, I like to draw it out. :)
Hope this was a little interesting or helpful to you! <3 (if you want help for your specific skin goals, I’ll try to rec some products!)

Thank you! Have you any experience with acrylics or with gouache? Any pointers?
No worries! I don’t really have much experience with acrylics (not enough to feel like I can give general advice, anyway) and I’ve never touched gouache I’m afraid, sorry about that ): I’m sure you’ll be able to find helpful tutorials either here, on deviantart, or just on google in general though. Best of luck with those (:
XD ‘outfit’ - I’m drowning in my massive winter coat - it was fun, I always love being in Zeeland. My family is from there and it’s a very special place. <3
