ENTRY 301
Anyone else ever see an old building or castle, or any kind of aged structure and just feel simply amazed by how it looks, even if it's run down? I often wonder about how they looked right after being freshly built or the people that once roamed the property. Just a random thought for yet another night that I can't sleep. More thoughts later.
Glenogra Castle in the frost in Meanus, Co. Limerick Ireland
it's very strange to me that there are just ruined castles all over England. Like, this used to be a military hub with a noble family, a centre for commerce and laws, probably with big cultural and religious significance, and now it's a bit of old wall and a lovely spot to walk your dog.
Castle
Of course it's lovely,
Function was balanced,
Or we're more used to modern.
Of course a castle intrigues,
It's beyond our experience,
And seldom spoken about.
History happened here,
Of course this isn't unspoiled.
Towers
I’ve climbed the stairs,
Stared out at the views,
Wondered of the spaces,
And still don’t understand.
So many old houses have towers,
Look outs a mile high
Including the hill that is.
Seems sensible termed like that,
But why the thin stairs?
Only space for one person,
Not a one way route,
But someone’s going backwards.
Every house it happens in.
You visit and go to the tower,
Spend ages at the bottom
Letting everyone coming down out,
Then when you want to keep getting a few steps
And then, Oh?
Back to the top again.
What a useful tower for getting trapped.
