#old knights

I found the first mini I ever painted, an old rogue trader imperial army officer. I'm impressed with 13 year old me; I tried doing eyes and freehand army badge and black eagle wings.

I put him next to the most recent mini I finished painting for comparison. Not too bad, past mes.

Work in progress on the last of my old knights, beholden to none. I started this project to use some specific heads from PuppetsWa. But the image of this mk2 helmet on a bulky marine with two pistols just wouldn't leave me. So I set the cool head aside and went with my vision.

Some gear on her hips and a groin plate should even out the silhouette, I think. I have an iron halo and purity seals/parts of the moment I could add as well.

I finally unpacked my paints and lights to set up my desk. When I looked at my Pile of Plastic - unpainted minis - I started to get overwhelmed. So I picked these out and they’ll be my focus. I feel like I want to break out of my painting habits and push the Blanche / Iron Sleet vibe. We’ll see how far my brain lets me get, but it feels good to set all this out, so I’ll take that as a good sign.

Old Knight painting #2. The hairspray worked as intended this time!

Prime silver, gloss sealant, hairspray, base color, scrub with water and a toothbrush.

I got excited and kept painting. Not sure the sun motif comes through on the tilt shield. I might change it to a diagonal bar to make it look more like heraldry. Just the base left! Comment / critique welcome!

Washes applied and it's starting to come together. I know the blade wouldn't have chipped paint like the armor, but there's something I like about it. Should I keep it? If so, what color should it be?
