book recs?

bookblr, can anyone recommend me good books? right now i'm reading charles bukowski (aka the reason for all the bukowski posts)!!! I like poetry and old writers, Plath, Woolf, Poe, Miller, ect. BUT! I also like sci-fi, horror, fantasy, really anything as long as it's interesting. Please recommend anything, I'm trying to reach my books for the year!!!!! I'm getting back into reading now that I'm sober and I would really appreciate any books or book series!! Thank you!!!!!!

x Bad fanfictions is just as good and here is why:

(these are all my opinion also I may go off topic because I'm rambling so sorry!!)

x I’m sure this has been said is so many ways and presented in different media, but I still have the right to say what I have to say. WE AS A WRITING AND SHARING COMMUNITY DO NOT GIVE LOVE TO UNIRONIC “BAD” FANFICTIONS. 

x Before you rally up pitchforks and “but Taylor blah blah blah” hear me out. There are different types of bad. We have My Immortal and then we have new writers trying to get a foot in their favourite fandom. Much of the time these still get mixed up and not to say it’s a bad thing but it does damper writers who are trying their best. Bad could mean the grammar is wrong, the spelling is shit, too many commas (I'm guilty as fuck for all of these). Bad could also mean the plot is too out of order or too many cuts that try to sew themselves together. Even with all that the fanfiction could skill be captivating.

x Personally I love finding new fanfics in my fandoms and reading them, there is a clear cut between new works by established writers and then fresh meat who don’t know a thing about writing. Or you might have those few in-betweens that have writing experience but they still lack something that could make them better (like me). We should gather up and read their works, I know it may make your head hurt trying to autocorrect but that views mean so much to the writers. (Trust me every day I read a new wattpad story before bed, I know.)

x Bad fanfictions are also our foundations and people seem to fail to realize WE NEED THEM TO KEEP GOING. What kind of community of writers would we be if only a hand full of writers were our primary labour cows? Those “bad” fanfic writings have cool ideas that you’ve probably never thought about until now. Maybe they just need a voice to their idea to get it out. Idk what it may be, but I do know we need to allow them into our circle more often. 

x Also why is it that the “bad” fanfictions tend to be more captivating than the well-written ones? I’ve read countless fictions were the plot was shit, the characters were shit but yet I had to finish it compared to their superior counterparts I’d find boring in the first three chapters. 

x Give our “bad” fiction writers love is all I’m saying. Even if the subject they are writing about isn’t your cup of tea or if the plot is overplayed or whatever it may be. Give them those views so they can continue writing and get better. Even if you’re their only fan they will haul ass to improve just to impress you.

x Also...help them out, be nice when doing so but help them shape themselves so they will just as welcome.
