Every time I see you post something, I look at the outfit and try to guess who it might be for, and I am wrong every. single. time. XD But I love it and the beautiful fashion you find for us!
Haha sorry about that! Hope you’re still enjoying the blog and thank you!
1, 8, 11, 26, 30 for the cosplay ask! :D
Thanks!
1: How did you discover cosplaying? Well I’ve loved dress-up as long as I can remember, so it’s actually pretty hard to pinpoint when that turned into cosplay. I mean I dressed up as characters for Halloween and movie and book premiers way back in the day--I guess the first time I really put concerted effort into researching a specific costume to recreate was for my Merida cosplay. So that means I “discovered” cosplay because all my friends said that with my hair I needed a Merida dress. And the rest is history.
8: Do you have any favorite cosplayers? Um, you? Seriously, I’m so inspired by your attention to detail and “I can learn how to do that” attitude!
Also @rattle-and-burn I’m just in awe of. The intricacy and creativity in the elf costumes? I die.
And I actually draw a lot of inspiration from all the ladies over at Frock Flicks. They’re not cosplayers, but I’ve been following several of their historical reenactment blogs for a decade or more at this point, and for me historical recreation was kind of the gateway to costume recreation.
11: What is your favorite cosplay you've done? Already answered.
26: If you had a chance to meet your all-time favorite cosplayer, what would you say to them? Probably just thank them for inspiring me, maybe pick their brains about specific techniques if I could think of anything specific.
30: What is your ultimate dream cosplay? There are so many but in terms of pure intricacy/expense/current impossibility/absolute love... um, let’s be real, it’s the masquerade dress from Ever After.

This is exciting! When I first read foam I was thinking you meant the craft foam typically used for armour, and that would def been too flaccid to hold its shape. But I like the idea of this type of foam and working with it. I think it should hold up well but still be a little delicate. Looks like you’ve made some really great progress!
Thanks. It’s been slow going, but it’s something.. :D
And yeah, it’s the foamcore/posterboard stuff. Which I’m not a big fan of working with, thanks to decidedly-less-than-fun high school art projects made with crappy dull high school Xacto blades... but this method finishes off the edges without relying on perfect cuts, so it’s less of a pain than I was expecting. My biggest complaint so far is that I can only fit one layer of the sword diagonally onto a single sheet of the foam. At any rate, here’s hoping it turns out a little less delicate than it looks...
Thanks for your replies to my personal post! I truly appreciate them, really, thank you ♡ I’m fine, and like, I don’t feel bad, just weird. It was just not the best thing to wake up to and be reminded of after a shitty night.

Omg I keep thinking Elladan or Elrohir with tattoos
I am totally 100% okay with this. Tarahen does give off distinct Elrond vibes with his longer hair for Trespasser.

@anon I actually do follow them and I have no...
I know how you feel. Sometimes I come up with something clever, that has already been thought up years ago. I’m sure your work is just fine, knowing how you like to create your own headcanons and conclusions. I think your stuff is great. Sometimes people have the same ideas and that doesn’t mean someone took the idea from someone else.
That’s where this fandom can get so ‘fun’. Because it is so old I highly doubt there are any really ‘new’ and ‘original’ headcanons that have not been already thought up at some point in the past with exceptions to those inspired directly by the new films (which of course are just a huge collection of headcanons strung together in a mass consumable fanfic) and maybe those based on ‘unpopular’ characters such as Sauron.
Speaking of old headcanons that are unique, my fiance @fire-fira told me of one headcanon they came across back when The Return of the King first came out when we were still in high school. It was a gigolas fic where the author could not make up their mind if they wanted Legolas to be blonde as he is in the films or a brunette as fandom pre-films favored.
So they headcanoned that Sindarin elves change their hair color depending on the season like arctic foxes...
Now that’s unique and from 2002. Have not seen it since.

Oooooo, that sounds like such a pain!! I hate having to send things back. Do you need it for something soon?
tbh I wouldn’t mind if there wasn’t the TVA to pay again! :c that thing is just the worst. and I need it to... feel more comfortable with myself? so yeah, kind of!
