Not to be that guy, but the mentors had more on their plate and their own tributes to care for than to be scared of Haymitch going sober.
At most they could think it would suck for him way worse when Katniss dies.

Here’s how much merch I own lmao (w/ more on the way)
Continuing the issue of Whitney shafting in promo - saw many statements that since her character is not too present in the book/barely in the book, it’s doesn’t make sense for her to be in too much promos (which is already weird, because since when was Effie a main character in SOTR. If you ask me, she had as much scenes or even less than Lenore Dove in the book)
But I came here to attempt to prove why this justification is blatantly untrue.
Allow me to re introduce this - this is the official Hunger Games page, promoting the book pre release, the promo that was basically advertised through Lenore Dove/Haydove. Lenore Dove was a prominent character in said materials, the book being sold to us through using *her* quotes the most, along with her name being one of the first revealed. There was the “they will not use my tears for their entertainment” quote from Haymitch and nothing from Maysilee. Lenore Dove was certainly getting the main character treatment when the book was coming out at least.
So this is already telling that the marketing team did bank a lot on Haydove dynamic and Lenore Dove as a character if this was basically the center of the book promotions (along with the claims that Haydove is the “heart of the story”), so for me at least it seems strange that as of now, Lenore Dove has all but vanished from movie promotion. And it is indeed weird to use the “she will not be there for much” defense, anytime someone is stating that they feel bad for Whitney for getting shafted in the marketing campaigns.
Okay my birthday is on 14th of August, gotta lock tf in for CC (as well as writing ch2 of Fables)
SOTR is literally “Blonde” of YA. Tasteless, overly dramatic and sympathy bait. Supposedly it tells about a backstory about a miserable and complex person, and then proceedes to dump 300 pages of torture porn onto Haymitch to “justify” him being traumatized and broken, with literally every single terrible thing in the world happening to him.
That’s also why SOTR Haymitch is so bland and perfect - in the narrative he isn’t a character who is meant to undergo an arc or push the plot forward, he is a vessel for cheap trauma so it would “hit harder” when it is happening to his perfect, lovely, sweet and caring guy right? Don’t you all feel bad for him?
Do you now see why he would have been drinking, since apparently it wasn’t obvious at all before, but now you are given TEN reasons why he would break!
Having a fever fucking sucks.
Having a fever WHILE trying to do an exam sucks even more
More art WILL be coming tomorrow bc I still have so much stuff hiding in my files I made this all in like three months
I hope you're okay and ATB for your exams!
Well I am definitely NOT okay right now 😫 have like 39 degree fever, most likely failed my exam bc the very same fever was in the classroom, and rn shivering.
Sorry for not answering my asks, I’ll do it, I promise 🥺 also sorry for Canary’s Cry readers, my body decided I am not to write or do anything other than being in pain ig.
