A little late but as promised, Christmas jumper PBs! It's so cold outside these days, good thing I have this official @belfastbarbellclub bobble hat (in French navy colour). By gosh those guys know how to lift, and they're so stylish! 🏋️💁‍♂️ . A great Sunday at #rcfni getting some #belfastbarbellclub gains in. Power cleans, back squats, and quality technique practice time. . Lost focus for a split second and squished my beard. It's fine, just frightened. Also yes I'm very aware that the squats weren't below parallel but this was about an hour in and I was cooked. I don't post much these days, but I'm still lifting and grinding along. Kinda. Been redoing the crossfit open workouts (not a lot of improvement on those, sadly) and today was 18.5. (tape on my thumbs was for the thrusters) those 7 mins ruined me. But then I decided to do clean and jerks because, even though I didn't feel right, I wanted to have a bit of fun with it. This was #1 of 2 singles at 115lbs. I also kind of sort of hit 125 after, but the jerk would not have been meet legal. (And no, I did NOT need to make this a squat clean, but I need to practice dropping under the bar. A lot.) I then proceeded to do a 10 min AMRAP of KB stuff (including kb burpee deadlifts. These SUCK hard). And some jump rope in prevision of hitting 18.3 again - and hoping beyond hope i can get a pull-up unassisted? Eh. Anyway, it was a mistake. I am completely useless now xD But at least I look a bit like I lift, despite my fat ass. More snatches last night with a target of 95%. I'm not very good at math and put 101% on instead but it worked! A sneaky 1kg pb teaser ahead of next week's 1rm sessions. . Some super rough footage of my warmup tonight at @belfastbarbellclub. Full snatch, knee snatch, and onto hip snatches (not shown). Worked up to about 95% then remembered tonight was snatch night in the actual class... Will I ever go below parallel? Stay tuned. . Back squats 4x5 @ ~72% was good fun as well, I think It was technically a rep PR for me. Can't wait until Sunday for some more though! Great night at @belfastbarbellclub with some clean and jerk work. Drills for technique, and some 2/3/5rm stuff to reinforce what we've already learned. I also pushed myself and now my 1rm c&j is also my 2rm! Then, in a fit of insanity, I tried do a chin-up and it worked! I'm basically a pro athlete now so DM me all your sponsorships. .
