Defeating Armenia, India entered the semifinals and faced Poland there on August 29, at 2.30 pm. In the semifinals, India beat Poland with a 2 – 1 to get to the finals. It was Humpy Koneru from India that got the country into the finals position for the 1st time ever. The last and only medal India has acquired was a bronze back in 2014, which means reaching the final stage was the first-time scenario for India on August 29th.
