the picture is blurry bc i have shaky hands but the four on the left pass inspection (!!!), the next one is marked with B line kinda sus, and the last one is ~1.7Ω on B line (this one might have to retire forever)

just attempted to fix a body cord for the first time ever i have never done armoury work i had a broken cord, a couple of screwdrivers, a pair of pliers and a thread snipper i used as a wire stripper and because i don't know how to use the multimeter i'm jumping in the deep end by just plugging in with that cord next practice and seeing if it works

I’m still on a post-Summer Nationals high, so I channeled it into some fencing art! I really had fun including lots of little technical details here.

*taps ur mask* HELLO i am an epee fencer but js curious y don’t u like absolute fencing? besides the equipment feeling? any other general fencing brand recs ?

yeah uh the absolute fencing equipment just does not tend to fit me well in general; i like blue gauntlet for most stuff but pbt for the glove, and i've been using a leon paul maraging steel apex blade for uhhh more than two years now

more detailed:

absolute is cheap which makes it good for beginners or casual fencers, but will usually be slightly less nice quality than other brands. also i find their stuff to a. not fit me well and b. kind of scratchy? anything i've ever gotten from absolute is a fair bit too big for me width-wise if it fits me lengthwise because i am a skinny little shit. oh except for fencing pants, i don't think comfortable fencing pants exist like at all.

blue gauntlet is my preferred brand for most equipment. skinnier than absolute and generally slightly better quality. depending on what exactly you're buying, i think bg is a little bit more expensive than af

haven't used a lot of pbt equipment but i really like their glove. it's got skinnier fingers which fits me better, provides a good grip, and doesn't wear out too quickly. plus the stamps turn out neat

leon paul is expensive and british but usually worth the price. their masks? goofy. idk what's going on there. i like the apex blade though, flexible but doesn't bend out of shape and has served me well for a very long time---though i have a friend who managed to break hers in like two months

uh that's about it; i haven't really used stuff by other fencing brands (allstar, uhlmann, negrini, whatever else there is) but if anyone else has additions feel free!!!

hi i'm hamlet and i am NOT GETTING PAID TO DO THIS! I'M GIVING HONEST ACCURATE RATINGS OF FENCING EQUIPMENT BECAUSE I LIKE TO YAP!!!! ok gotcha? gotcha.

as you might have been able to tell, i do not. like absolute fencing. i really. really. really. just don't like the way their equipment fits.

also i'm a sabre fencer so i cannot rate foil- or epee-specific equipment <\3

rules for asks/submissions:

i would prefer asks for giving me a piece of equipment to rate and submissions for your own ratings of equipment but the difference isn't that important to me

be as specific as possible!!! so i actually know what you're wanting me to rate!!!!

highkey i really really can't remember which blades are which so there will be lots of uncertainty about rating blades ;w;
