Zandik and His Segments Headcanons
Hiii guys this isn’t really a story or drabble but I figured if I was going to be writing more stories of Zandik or any of his segments then I wanted to have a page to link to that would describe each segment, their personalities and their names I match with them. This way my readers can just look at this so y’all aren't too confused!
This is really just…8 pages of me yapping about my headcanons and I would love love love to see comments on your thoughts and opinions on them! These are high IQ conversations people!<3
Side note, any stories I would write about Dottore would be way before Traveller came along so segments like Dr.Data and the false moon God I wouldn’t be referring to here! <3 I am also a Pantalone and Dottore shipper so I would heavily involve Zandik and his segments with Pantalone.
I know canonically the segments are referred to as their ages but that’s a little difficult to write, and I like the fandom's decision on going with the greek alphabet!
I should preface as well that I am a Zandik death denyer…
Zandik in general yes I feel like he’s willing to fight the boundaries of what people label ethic and moral? Traditional and conservative views like the Akedymia keeps research from branching out and I do feel like he’d be willing to test those. For my peace of mind in my headcanon I am making him a man of good character who would care about consent! (I see a lot of discourse on that on twitter…)
As for The segments I think they’re a hivemind that does NOT include Zandik. The segments are connected whether through experience, thought, maybe feelings but not Zandik.
🧪Prime/Omega/Dottore: Zandik in his prime state or what the fandom calls Omega! Also now known as the 35 year old segment.
For my headcanons this would be Zandik in his prime. I feel like he would be the most selfish and possessive of all the segments. In the game he sacrifices the segments without much of a thought and I really think if he puts his mind to something he won’t stop at anything to get it. Plays the piano sometimes.
In a relationship–-with read, Pantalone or both– I feel Omega would be selfish of their time and wanting to be “the one” that they go to even over the original. He is Zandik in his prime after all, he can give you everything you need and undoubtedly do it better than any of his “colleagues”.
Gets along best with none of the segments. Every other segment included won’t talk to him unless they have to. Omega seems to clash with the other versions of himself because his ambitions seem to easily sacrifice their needs and existence if he so pleases. Even the other segments aren’t so ambitious as to throw their hivemind away. Loneliest segment </3
🧪45 year old segment/Epsilon: The segment that shares the Harbinger title with 35. We see 45 a lot in other trailers and teasers so I think both Epsilon and Omega would share most of those duties together. I wanted to name him alpha but then I can’t stop thinking of Omegaverse and I already have to deal with that with Omega.
I think Epsilon and Omega would be so similar and nearly impossible to tell apart. Omega’s voice is slightly higher than Epsilon’s. Compared to Omega’s almost smug/brash possessiveness and selfishness, Epsilon’s possessiveness would become more mellowed or at least show up in quieter ways. I think in the ten year difference Epsilon just has matured a bit more, has become more of an introvert and just mellowed down a little but still has some rough edges.
I think Epsilon gets along pretty well with his 8 year old segment/Phi. Of course all the segments converse and talk to some degree but I’d like to think they get along with some segments over others.
🧪65 year old segment/Gamma: Gamma is into his late years and he just wants to stay out of any drama or politics so he can put focus towards any hobbies or ambitions he has. I think Gamma would rarely ever show up in politics and instead takes more of a role in watching the younger segments so that they don’t cause too much trouble. Where his ambition for science has trickled away, his passion for the piano becomes a frequent hobby.
I think Gamma would be a more relaxed version of Zandik now that he’s older. His rough edges have smoothed out and I think this stage of his life is where he starts to grow a sense of compassion or empathy that isn’t used for the benefit of science. He takes care of Phi(8 yr old segments), he teaches and watches over Delta(18 yr old segment), he treats Beta(20 year old segment) like a scruffed cat, He scolds Omega and Epsilon when their selfish tendencies harm the younger segments.
Relationship wise and sex wise I think he becomes a lot gentler compared to Omega and Epsilon who’s love is more possessive and can come out rougher in the bedroom. Not to say they can’t be gentle at times but Gamma is just always gentle, vanilla these days because his passion and ambition have quelled down to a form of content!
🧪25 year old segment/Theta: Theta is very dedicated to his work and in my opinion the segment that easily gets looked over and is good at staying invisible. He’s quiet and stays cooped up in his lab dedicating most if not all of his time to work/science/projects/experiments. I think at first people would assume he’s a shut-in who doesn’t cause much issues but the amount of gore and research going on in his lab is mind boggling. Has to wash his laundry separate from the other segments because at the end of the day he is most likely splashed with blood. Experiments on animals and humans alike.
God that waist I would fuck him into his desk. urghhhh.<3
I think he’d be a segment that shows his love for his research. His lover/s would find journals written about them filled with analytics, drawn diagrams, body assessments, health evaluations, and even psychology. I think not only would he be considerate about biology but the psychology that goes along with that.
Gets along best with Gamma just because the both of them are very mellow in their own way and Gamma is about the only one that leaves him the hell alone.
🧪Beta/20 year old segment: The segment that got completely erased from Zandik’s story… so I made up an age and name for him anyways to fit him in there. I think this would be the most aggressive version of Zandik. The most unruly and feral one for sure. Omega and Epsilon sort of use him as an errand boy for their Fatui duties not only but including travelling to different nations, dealing with laboratories or facilities outside of Snezhnaya. Just petty affairs.
In a relationship… He’s giving me tsundere vibes. Loves you but will act like he’s disgusted by the mere thought of that to cover his embarrassment. However if you pay attention to another segment too long he’s loud and brash with his jealousy saying you should only pay attention to him. He’ll deny he said this within the hour.
Gets along most with Delta(18 yr old segment). In a way they’re both smug and arrogant so they feed into each other's ego. The other segments quickly get headaches when they’re together.
🧪Delta/18 year old segment: Stage of Zandik’s life after being expelled! I feel like he’d be a mix of smug and arrogant. Most of his time goes to research, not really experiments, but reads and writes a lot. Very scholarly of course. He gets along well with Beta but picks on Phi a lot. He and Phi are quite sibling coded, I think he would tease and pick on Phi but not bully him you know? And even if the teasing gets too far Gamma or Epsilon are quick to scold some sense into him.
In a relationship I think he would have fun being witty and quipping at his lovers, showing off that scholarly knowledge he has. But also a virgin<3. Not much experience in that department so he gets turned on fast, cums even quicker. I think he’d like gentle sex and also rough sex. If you guys are having gentle sex he will definitely try to ragebait you into fucking him. You and Pantalone better have a lot of patience before you go talking to him. He will interrupt whatever you're doing or working on because of course whatever he has to say is far more important and beneficial to your time.
🧪Phi/8 year old segment: To what we know Phi is the segment of Zandik where he had completely lost all compassion. Phi is mostly paired up with Zandik, Gamma or with Epsilon if he isn’t working. Most of his “research” goes into Aranara’s and he carries around his journal wherever he goes. I like to think he’s so interested in Aranara’s because he can’t see them. How heartbreaking is that</3.
Phi can be very adorable but there are plenty of times where people are reminded that he is in fact not mentally well. I like to compare him to a feral kitten. Sometimes he’s okay and behaves normally but other times he will spit, bite and scratch staying on the offensive, leave me alone but also Please don’t hurt me. Yes he plays with toys but sometimes plays with them in a concerning way that may show slivers of his trauma… Sometimes destroys his toys or destroys them to put them back together differently. Gifts you things that are supposed to be endearing but might worry you a little, the same energy of a cat bringing a dead mouse to you because to them that is a gift.
I think if you were very close to Phi he can be cute and cling to clothes and like getting his hair ruffle but he’s also stuck at 8 forever with no compassion and trauma. If you show frustration or disappointment he will react. Throwing things, hitting you, saying mean things that were most certainly told to him at one point.
🧪Zandik: Last but not least Zandik! Our original. I will always write in a time frame–unless for angst purposes– that Zandik is alive and well. Zandik is old and he is tired. He doesn’t do much anymore and is mostly a recluse. He likes to do old people's things like sit and watch the birds. His hands aren't the best anymore so he can’t indulge in writing or the piano. His compassion has grown and he feels empathy for his segments. All the stages of his life where he wished things could have been different. Even though he knows logically the segments are stuck in their permanent stages of life he still shows kindness anyways. Please take a break. He loves Phi the most. It's healing in a way to show his child self compassion and love in a time he never received it.
Sees goodness in all stages of his life, which is why he would have never foreseen being betrayed(but that’s okay because I’m keeping him alive). Talks a lot about home, about Sumeru and his favorite memories now that he can look back and see comfort in some of them. If he isn’t napping or bird watching he’s hanging around the segments. Especially Omega.
