like the inclination naturally is of course roy being in the left shirt and jason in the right one. that's his insane girlfriend!!! who he loves so much!!! and i like to imagine the hammer in question is strategically placed in roy's back pocket, so that oh nooooo when it's kill-you-with-a-hammer time jason simply has to cop a feel of roy's ass in order to retrieve his murder weapon. oh nooo. what a travesty...
but. simultaneously. very funny to me is the idea of roy having a terrible awful horrid ghastly bitch of a day and jason just...takes his shirt off. and look, the view of jason's tits is already drastically improving roy's spirits, but then jason's holding out his shirt for them to switch and it's such a sweet little gesture that roy's heart bursts with even more love for his insane girlfriend. and then he proceeds to commit an unspeakably beautiful act of hammer violence and jason is consumed by such overwhelming adoration that when roy turns back around (jason was correct. hitting ne'er-do-wells with a hammer did make him feel better) jason's shirt now reads "I ❤️ My Insane Girlfriend Wife"

though i feel i ought to preface by saying that alas i'm not fully 100% completely in the know when it comes to omegaverse. i'm preeetty familiar but definitely not a top-tier expert omegaverseologist lol. (so i'm very very keen to hear what your answer would be as well!) i am also outrageously bad at picking a lane and sticking to it. every conflicting headcanon is true simultaneously all the time!!!!! yippee!!
that said…ALPHA ROY ALPHA ROY ALPHA ROY!! i can for sure hold space for an omega!Roy, but much like my bi hc for him this guy seems to bring a certain decisiveness out in me. he just screams alpha to me. it feels so complimentary to his whole deal — how protective he is, his leadership skills, how fierce and determined and stubborn (affectionate) he is, how he can sometimes be a bit headstrong and impulsive. even his gorgeous fiery beefy-armed appearance strikes me as alpha-ish.
i also like how it could potentially interact with some of his personal conflicts; for example, being an alpha (in my view) could seriously exacerbate his abandonment issues. in literary academia (at least my experience of it), they talk about this concept of "The Wound", the very innermost aspect of characterisation which is, essentially, a mistaken, incorrect belief that the character holds about themselves, right down deep in their core. i think it's probably fairly reasonable to venture that Roy's Wound is "people keep leaving me because *i* am in some way lacking". being an alpha could heap even more weight onto that wound, because within the omegaverse (at least to the extent i'm familiar with it?) secondary gender designations do very much entail certain social expectations and responsibilities. it adds yet another layer to the "they left because i failed them" of it all, and 'alpha' becomes another item on the very long list of things (father, hero, partner, friend, etc) Roy is scared of not being good enough at.
another interesting conflict could be that as an alpha, Roy has the ability to splinter off and form his own pack. would he? well, no, i think something fairly drastic would have to happen for him to want to sever himself (and Lian) like that from particularly Dinah, but Ollie and the rest of his family too. but he could, and that has great angst potential to me.
and finallly!! to round out this Roy ramble before i get to Jason, i think despite all the above Roy would be pretty comfy with being an alpha, and for his scent i feel quite strongly that it should be desert-ey. specifically warm and earthy, like both sun itself but also (okay maybe this is weird but hear me out) like that delicious smell river-smoothed rocks get when they've been baking in the sun for hours and you just know if you cracked them open you'd find that the warmth has permeated right through.
as for Jason. oh boy, i know this one's contentious in some circles, but i do think i have to agree with your url!!! <3
i just think due to my prefered characterisation of him, alpha!Jason played 100% straight feels too……..Lobdell-ish, for me (*angrily shaking my fist at the sky, as i do every time i'm reminded of that guy* Lobdell…..when i get you). i think the tension just comes from me, personally, viewing the times when Jason is doing the "brash red-blooded macho man" thing as him putting on a performance and not at all being his "true self". but some people do see that as just being him, and from there slotting him into a "traditional" alpha role with very "daddy dom" undertones (or overtones) obviously "makes sense". and i mean i'm not one to rain on parades, if they're having fun more power to 'em! it's just probably not a parade i'd join.
(suuuuper irrelevant sidenote but to put my fandom academia hat on for a second, i think it could be very interesting to examine how the spn fandom as omegaverse ground zero + utrh 2010 had such ripple effects on the state of batman fandom. fanon jason haunted by the ghost of fanon dean winchester (and vice versa), etc. if i ever have the time and motivation i will write that essay lol)
so that said, i am pretty fond of the headcanon where the dunk in the Lazarus Pit turns Jason into an alpha/beta when he naturally would've been an omega, and he feels a lot of discomfort and grief that he struggles to place and/or resolve in any satisfying way. *slaps roof of Jason Todd* this bad boy can hold so much transgenderism!!
but as previous, mostly i tend to go for omega!Jason. i just think the potential of it is so juicy and near-endless. jason being endangered by early presentation as a very vulnerable kid. the sheer angst of bruce viewing jason's designation as a favourable characteristic (especially when Dick is an alpha). jason being biologically forced to accept the help of other people, but in the same breath having the excuse of biology when he wants to be cuddly and affectionate and nurturing and doting but is too tsundere to just say that he wants to. good shit!!
and in a loosely similar way to before, i really do think some of Jason's inner conflicts are given a very interesting twist and extra layer with him being an omega. the themes of free will and autonomy come to mind; whilst i don't think Jason would feel dysphoria about being an omega, being able to be forced into submission and being beholden to biological needs he has zero control over would be terrifying to him. also, jason's very fraught relationship with his various parental figures — fathers and mothers — might be very interesting to explore in the context of omega biology. but i think that's probably it's own post, since this one is getting very long hehe, and also because i think i'd want to do some research and a lot of thinking on how male/female vs alpha/omega vs masculine/feminine vs dominant/submissive gender roles all work in the omegaverse.
oh also! one thing i do think omega!Jason would love is making a nest. i usually hc jason (although, is it a hc if it's really rather canon) as a total neat freak, all of his abodes are clean and tidy and everything has a place and smells amazing. (oh, and speaking of smell, jason's scent. hmmm. i don't have a hc off the top of my head, but i'm leaning towards "warm" notes too; something along the lines of cherry wood smoke, or toasted flour).
and since i've mostly been a little light on the jayroys considering them separately, for my final trick i shall whisk up a beautiful vision of jayroy's nest!! apparently i'm just a big fan of Roy and acts of service as a love language, because this one also involves him making something for Jason lol. specifically, i think for when he's in heat, Jason's ideal nest would be a sunken sleeping-pit kind of concept, so that all his nest materials are easily contained (neat freak) and he can be as messy as he wants within his little cave of cosiness. however. when he's not in heat, the sleeping pit is giving…coffin. it's giving trauma flashbacks. it's giving "i can't immediately see all the doors and windows and places something could be hiding in our room and now i've been lying awake for six hours hypervigilant and paranoid." so i think Roy makes them a convertible bed that's a regular frame + matress on top most of the time, but can be switched to Nest Mode when needed. and you know it's a carefully thought-out handmade marvel of engineering, so it's very…ahem, sturdy. i think Jason loves it so much he cries a little when he first sees it. even the sturdiness makes him feel weepy; it's not just that it won't break no matter what they get up to, it's that it's built to last. a very blatant and sweet show of devotion. the bed does not have to wait long to be…"utilised" ;P
