in omegaverse fics the alphas are always the villains who are like hurting the poor little omega which is absolutely fine, but i feel like if we move away from evil instincts and go into a slightly twisted psychology then we need more omegaverse fics with betas as the villains

Going to pounce on the cool worldbuilding because I’m Here For It. I’d imagine that Ω/Ω relationships would be thought of as kind of similar to gay relationships in RL Japan. Apparently the culture there (though it’s changing) is that it’s fine to be gay in school because it’s “training” for “real” relationships, and adult gay people are considered weird and childish. Ω/Ω stuff would probably be “Okay as long as you’re unmated — wait wtf what do you mean you’re not even looking for an alpha?”

Not really super familiar with Japanese perceptions of homosexuality, but yeah that’s kind of what I was going for there. And I think Omega/Omega pairs would find it really obnoxious, because people don’t really take their relationship seriously.

Like okay I think Ingrid and Dorothea would be an Omega/Omega pair, and they definitely get stuff like “Why do you need Dorothea for your heat week? Can’t you just ask someone else in your pack?” or after they mate people see them together and assume they’re just friends and that they must have Alphas (even though, no, they marked each other get it through your thick skulls!)

Omegaverse sexuality stuff is honestly so interesting. Like, Beta/Omega pairs tend to get flack because people see it as the Beta “stealing” a perfectly good Omega away from the Alphas.

Alpha/Alpha and Alpha/Beta pairs are seen as “a waste” (since they can’t have kids) and “impractical” (because another Alpha/a Beta can’t satisfy a rut), etc.

In regards to the Omegaverse could you explain something to me? Who carries the pups if the woman is the Alpha and the man is the Omega? I read something were Clarke's parents had that dynamic and was curious if Clarke's dad carried her

In this verse I believe it doesn’t matter the gender. (Not that there is any set rules!) From what I’ve seen in the past, people like to write either: Only omegas can carry pups, Or, some betas an all omegas. I haven’t come across one yet where an alpha gets pregnant. So yeah I’m pretty sure Jake carried in those scenarios :)

Recently there's been a lot of omegaverse set ups which feature male omegas and female alphas having intersex genitalia. Like both sets of bits, but one is either mostly or entirely non-functional (i.e. male omegas have vaginas on top of working uteruses, but their dicks just shoot blanks). Wouldn't that be a better compromise?

Yours is probably more logical, and y’all can do whatever you want in your own Omegaverses, but personally I am not a huge fan of the whole intersex Omegas/Alphas thing (I’ve only ever seen it in terms of Omegas, good to know that people are doing it for Alphas now too).

Mostly because I’ve already been doing it the way I’ve been doing it and I’m stubborn to a fault, and partly because I think my way is more fun.

This AU has men with their reproductive organs linked to their buttholes like chickens, yet without the means to naturally push the babies out in the end (which honestly seems like a biological disaster to me). I really don't understand why you are so baffled by loaded ladyboners in comparison.

Probably because it’s just difficult to visualize and no one has drawn me a helpful diagram yet. It’s not that I can’t see it, it’s just that I don’t have a coherent or detailed explanation.

Plus all of my fanfic is M/M so I’ve had like four more years to process how DudeUterus(TM) would work. Y’all probably don’t know this, since I never actually posted any of these, but when I first started writing Omegaverse fics I didn’t have men getting pregnant. It’s a concept I adjusted to over time. It’s a process.

I’m sure LadyDicks(TM) will follow suit.

literally struck with the most random thought while writing:

david raya had that horrific nose injury where he had to get surgery to fix it. in an omegaverse context, wtf does that mean for his sense of smell/scenting???

like there’s absolutely no way his nose went back to normal after all of that. i’m sure the effects last til this day. but does he have a decreased sense of smell? would it not be harder to scent and stuff? like maybe he can’t really read other people cos he can’t recognise their scents really well? and in turn does that mean he doesn’t realise when his own scent is going kinda crazy?

probably not losing his smell completely but at the very least not having the same sense of smell he had before the injury
