"..." Omen stares at Xoloet intently, his tail a flickering flame. They don't say anything to the other pokemon but seem interested in their appearance.
"Ah, I'm sorry!" Eir says to Xoloet. "I'm surprised Omen is even showing themself. They must be interested in you though!"
"He usually talks with me via telepathy," she adds. If he's not ignoring me. "I think it's something to do with our bond. On the rare occasion that he talks, it's usually to say something really important!"
"I don't think it has anything to do with privacy though...we're almost always together anyway so it works out. Omen's definitely not that outgoing, hehe!"
"Omen..." Eir blinks up at the houndoom. "Wh-what happened? I remember we met some new pokemon on our way home and then..."
Eir reaches up and holds Omen's face in her paws. "You brought me back home, didn't you?"
Omen's face breaks into a rare smile. He looks fondly down at Eir. Of course. As long as time allows, I will remain by your side.
"What would I do without you," she lets out a nervous chuckle. "How long have I been out?"
The houndoom looks at Eir, his stoic expression back. Longer than last time. You've been pushing yourself too much, you have to be more careful.
"Ahaha," Eir rubs the back of her head. "You worry too much, Omen! Calyx said these were just growing pains!"
"That fool!" Omen curses, letting out a few rare words, his vocal chords unused to the sounds. Excuse me, I'm glad you're awake now. Please let me know if you need anything at all.
The houndoom starts to walk away, his irritation palpable. "Omen," Eir sighs, attempting to call her familiar back. "...thank you."
"Ahah," Eir smiles nervously, she looks up warily at Clementine. "That's a lot of questions! I haven't been entirely honest with everyone though...I'll tell you a little bit more about how Omen and I met."
"It was almost ten years ago now. I was travelling on my own when I heard something. I stumbled upon a strange...horn. It was glowing out on the plain and it was calling to me."
"All I could hear was, 'help.' This voice was consuming my thoughts. Before I knew it, I had rushed over and I was holding the horn."
"This thing, this horn...it needed me."
"I wasn't even thinking," Eir sighs. "I knew I had to do something."
"Revival Blessing. My family always told me I couldn't be rash, I had to think things through. A life returned could have ramifications we could never understand..."
"I was rash."
"I still don't know what came over me at the time. The horn was calling me and I couldn't stop myself."
"This horn...Omen's broken horn. Omen came back to life," Eir says. "In front of my eyes. At my hands."
"It was overwhelming. I couldn't believe they were there."
"You know, your questions having me thinking...it was soon after Omen's revival that Calyx, my mentor, came into my life."
"Calyx explained that reviving Omen was part of the catalyst for them to become my familiar. I hadn't heard of regular pokemon having familiars before though, I thought only more important pokemon..." Eir trails off.
"I don't really practice magic though," Eir laughs. "Calyx helps me hone my healing powers. He says I still have a way to go."
"But the herbs..." Eir glances away shyly. "Erm, I'd say that's more of a...hobby. It's fun to play around with different remedies that don't just rely on my own powers. I want to learn about all kinds of ways to heal others!"
