If you wondered what a wandkeeper is (replace Garrick Ollivander with Gerbold).
About Vinci the Journal ↓
At first, Vinci was an ordinary muggle sketchbook 11-year-old Chris had discovered in his pocket the day he found himself at the muggle orphanage with no memories of his past. It remained the boy's most precious possession for many years and even became a friend of some kind, so Chris even named it after his hero - Leonardo da Vinci. Chris was lonely and awkward about making friends at the orphanage, so he often talked to Vinci and put the sketchbook under his pillow at night.
At Hogwarts, he enchanted the sketchbook with an extension charm and started using it as a journal. Chris made notes about his experiments with magic, sketched everything he found fascinating, and wrote down his thoughts about his life as if in a diary.
After Hogwarts, when he was working for Ollivander as a wandkeeper, he started to experiment with enchanting semi-sentient artefacts. Chris was always fascinated that magic can often see something about people they don’t realise about themselves. Like a wand chooses a wizard based on their traits, the Sorting Hat could see right through students’ minds like an x-ray scans bones under the flesh, or like Amortentia smells differently to each according to what attracts people even when they are not aware of the reason.
So, after some investigation and experiments, Chris managed to enchant Vinci to ‘communicate’ with the journal: Chris wrote questions, and Vinci ‘replied’ as Riddle's Diary replied to Harry.
For example, while Chris was testing it, he would ask something like, “What are my weaknesses?”. Vinci would show him a list, and one of the elements would say, “You’re so dumb at processing your feelings that you needed to create me.” Chris would just shrug as if admitting it was fair enough.
Once he wrote sheerly for test purposes, “Who am I romantically attracted to?” grimacing at the sound of the question and expecting to see, “No one, stop asking ridiculous questions.” But Vinci responded, “Ominis Gaunt. Isn’t it obvious, you dummy?”
Chris was sure that there was a mistake, and he enchanted Vinci wrong. But while leafing through the journal, he noticed a concerningly increased number of Ominis sketches lately. When Chris caught himself staring at one of them affectionately, he was terrified to realise that Vinci had worked properly.
