I just realised I forgot to tell you my name! (you can delete my other ask lol)
I'm Felix/River, and I'm coming out as transmasc, demiboy and omni-oriented aroace!
I want to come out to everyone I know in real life, and I know they'd accept me. Still, I'm very scared to come out, and I don't really want to be the center of attention. I want everyone to know who I am, but I'm scared of the moment I'll do it. Any tips on how to relieve that fear?
I can relate to this. I recently had an Experience with coming out to most of my extended family.
First: know your audience. Know if they’ll need a coming out that’s straight (hah) to the point, or if you can use humor/symbolism/a song/whatever. Also know how much you’ll need to explain: do they know what your identities mean? Or will you have to define them?
Second: be prepared. Know what you’ll say ahead of time, how you’ll say it, when you’ll say it. It’s a lot less nerve-wracking when you actually know what you’re going to do instead of jumping into it blindly.
Third: just do it, get it over with. Don’t waste time avoiding it or sitting in silence. Say your thing, answer any questions, and then sit back down- business as usual. It’s not as bad as it seems in the moment and after. The anticipation is a lot more scary.
Good luck! And if anyone has any other tips, feel free to add on!
