i'd like to try love and deepspace cause it seems interesting but the thing that's putting me off is that it's one of those freemium games that pretends it's free but constantly asks you to buy stuff if you want to experience the full game
with the MAJOR DISCLAIMER that i am not claiming it isn’t an incredibly predatory business model (it’s literally a gacha.) i would not characterize it as freemium or constantly asking you to buy stuff to progress.
the entirety of the main story & all of the resource farming combat levels are possible to clear as a f2p player and the worst wall you’re going to hit is maybe having to grind levelling materials (/minmaxing artifacts) for a while until you can clear that
…… but obviously this is an otome game at the end of the day and most (not all. but most) of the limited memories (where the Actual Dating Sim part of the game is concentrated) are locked behind the gacha system. which is a whole other Problem than freemium. i’ll yap about my experience & thoughts on the gachanomics below the cut
as far as how viable it is to pull everything you want while staying completely f2p…….. it’s not impossible but i’d say it’s pretty reliant on locking the fuck in on only 1 character and putting in regular shifts at the diamond mines.
now the early game is really generous. i’ve managed to rake in 0-15K in game currency within the span of about a week when i started.
(for more context: soft pity is at 70 pulls or 10.5K diamonds where you’ve got a 50/50 shot of getting that 5* memory or a standard banner 5* memory. if you miss out here, it’s guaranteed that the next 5* you get from that banner will be the limited 5* you’re pulling for which could take anywhere from 1-70 more pulls)
when that early game generosity starts tapering off you’re looking at a period of like 1-2 months to accumulate the same amount (barring a NEW diamond mine getting released. which they have done twice now i believe) this is not too terrible given there will probably be banner rotations you are not spending any diamonds on in between so with a combination of luck in gacha & luck in the schedule you could be doing just fine.
if you’re not so lucky though and constantly depleting those diamonds and new content keeps getting released…… the temptation to drop money is going to keep going up. the monthly pass (5.99 usd i think?) will give you 3.3K extra diamonds over the course of the month which. is fairly generous for a gacha imho, but any of the options for instantly buying a ton of ingame currency will hit your wallet and like. the pity system doesn’t particularly make gambling less addictive. knowing you’re going to “cash out” is more incentive if anything to keep spending if you’ve already paid in and still haven’t won (sunk costs will get you. i don’t know anyone who is immune to this)
and then all of this does become much more harrowing if you decide to pull for more than 1 character. you CANNOT do this as a f2p player without enduring some heartbreak unless you sold your soul for better gacha luck. i’d say even with a monthly pass 2 characters is the hard limit for maybe hopefully being able to get all the content you want without having to buy diamonds (and you will still be living in the diamond mines permanently 🥹)
if you are like me (completionist tendencies, lore enjoyer, interested in comparing storylines) and neeeeeeeed to see what’s going on with all 5 characters……. then side accounts are the way to go. after the early game it honestly does not take very much effort to clear all the dailies/weeklies/monthlies to be able to rake in a steady stream of diamonds. i can vouch for it. but also i know even the idea of doing this would be overwhelming for a lot of people so. ymmv!
'remain calm, forget that you know me' might be referring to a future where the narrator & subject don't interact, and the subject does their best to forget everything that happened between them in the past. but it could also be occurring within the relationship; 'remain calm' to prevent anything escalating in a clearly volatile situation, and 'forget that you know me' — willingly ignoring what the subject knows about who the narrator is as a person so they can both continue on in peaceful, and deliberate, ignorance of everything wrong and the inevitability of a painful ending. forget that you know me
The results of the poll from the other day, btw! You were all very correct.
In second place, one vote behind, was both Aile and Sivel, and while Ai says thank you, Sivel is too busy fighting Jaspern to have noticed the results.
It’s...time to work on my anatomy again.
Like, I am not happy with it.
I keep having scaling issues on computer, that I don’t have with sketchbooks and paper. Problem with paper is, The Fuzzies™ when it gets scanned in. To which I have to redraw it entirely anyway.
But my anatomy needs work. I’m so used to drawing big buff people because of MK that now everyone’s jacked in my art, and I need to tone it down. There’s in good shape, and then there’s buff--but then there’s MK buff, and that’s a whole other situation.
