Too deep thoughts part 2

Lots of people show more patience and understanding towards fictional characters than they do towards the real, living, breathing, people around them. Maybe it's because in fiction we usually get a back story, and with the people around us we don't. Because back stories are where the reasons for our actions lie. That's why it's easier to send a stranger to die than someone who's history you know personally. So maybe it's not the lack of understanding thats the problem, but the lack of connection. The mentality of "thats not my problem" and "it doesn't affect me directly so..". When we start thinking in terms of "we are one", "we are family", "we are a community", "we are a body", then even in the small things we start to see as "our problem"...we start to reach out and we start to connect, therefore we begin to understand, and from there we begin to have patience, and love one another with a similar love as that we have for our favourite fictional characters..
