What is the weirdest (and/or scariest) thing that has ever happened to you?
Ok, this is gonna get kind of heavy, but the scariest thing that happened to me happened to me a few years ago. I was woken up in the middle of the night because I heard sounds in the kitchen (I am a horribly light sleeper) and all the lights were on, so I went downstairs. The first thing I remember is seeing my dad sitting at the kitchen table, his skin this horrible shade of grey, gasping for breath. My mom had called an ambulance, and the EMTs came into our house and took him away. One of the neighbors came and stayed with us until my mom got back from the hospital. I just remember sitting there on the stairs in the middle of the night waiting for her to come home.
It turned out that my father has a blood disorder that causes clots, and when they did tests they found that his whole legs were filled with blood clots from his groin to his ankles. He'd woken up because his circulation had become so poor he wasn't getting any oxygen. He was in the hospital for a while, and had to get some surgery on his legs to open up different veins and arteries so his circulation would improve. He's gotten better, but he's still a bit weak and has a hard time walking for long distances. I worry about him a lot still.
Now whenever I see an ambulance race past, I get a little shiver down my spine (it doesn't help that about a year after this incident we had to call an ambulance for my mom in the middle of the night because she had a bad reaction to a sinus cold medication) because while I'm super happy ambulances exist, the thought that they're going to someplace because someone is sick or hurt like that is kind of... stressful? It's weird.
It's one of the reasons I'm so serious about my health and running, because the blood disorder is genetic, and while I haven't been tested for it yet, there's a really good chance I have it because my half sister does as well.
What does your perfect life look like?
Hmmm, this one took a bit of thinking.
I suppose that my ideal life would involve me living somewhere in California. I managed to get a steady job right out of school and have now worked my way up to a feature film studio like DreamWorks or Blue Sky as a character animator or concept artist. I’m able to pay my bills and loans off with the money I make doing what I’m passionate about. I live someplace nice enough that I get to go running outside every day.
I have a nice apartment with one or maybe three dogs and some goldfish, (maybe with a significant other or spouse, who knows). When it’s not crunch time I get to walk around in the evenings when it’s cool out. I watch lots of good movies. Depending on what point in my life it is, I’ve either run the Marine Corps Marathon or am in training to run it.
My job is constantly engaging and rewarding and I never get so tired or overworked that I’d want to quit. My mom doesn’t worry about me too much and she’s retired somewhere on a beach with my dad, both of them happy and healthy. My sister is a big-shot doctor somewhere or runs a private practice and still helps people a lot, depending on what she ends up wanting.
Where the /fuck/ did y'hide the cutout? DID YOU THROW IT AWAY?! BECAUSE IF Y'DID, I SWEAR T'GOD--
I didn't touch your fuckin' cutout. Maybe if you'd go get your eyes checked, you'd find it. B|
"Do you found yourself to have loved and lost? Can you ever really be with the person you want?"
"Yes, I have loved and lost many times. It is a learning experience."
